Rainy-day kalguksu lunch with mom at Todamok, an Ansan restaurant
In short
Todamok is a kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant on Daejaengi-gil in Seonbu-dong, Ansan, Gyeonggi. On a rainy day the writer went for lunch with her mom and ordered the chicken kalguksu + roe kalguksu + potato pancake set for two, 35,000 won: the chicken kalguksu tasted light and clean, the roe kalguksu was packed with roe, and both bowls were generous. With a wide parking lot, large family tables and even a mini animal farm, Todamok is an easy choice for a family meal out in Ansan.

It'd been a while since I had lunch with my mom in Ansan! It was raining and the weather felt cool, so I was craving something warm with broth, so we went to Todamok, a kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant in Seonbu-dong, Ansan 🍜

- ✅ A great kalguksu spot in Ansan for a family meal out
Where is Todamok in Ansan, and is there parking?
Todamok's Ansan branch sits spread out on Daejaengi-gil, surrounded by mountains and trees, so the air was full of forest scent 🪵 Sometimes when you eat out, going somewhere like this really sets the mood

We drove there, and the parking lot was huge, which was great! A lot of places have surprisingly tight parking, so it was really nice to visit Todamok without worrying about that at all 👍🏼

Inside Todamok: seating and how it works for families
Walking in, I was surprised at how much bigger it felt than I expected... Since the view outside is pretty, there are seats where you can eat while looking out, and lots of large tables great for families. Chuseok (Korean harvest holiday) is coming up soon, and I thought it'd be perfect for a family visit! Picking a lunch spot everyone agrees on is surprisingly hard, but kalguksu is something the whole family loves, so it's just right

There are a lot of large tables set up. Each seat has a big window, so it felt really open and nice. And the chairs were all comfortable enough for elderly family members to sit easily!

I saw a lot of families visiting. Since the seating is so spacious, not having to worry about a wait is a huge plus too ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Chicken kalguksu + roe kalguksu + potato pancake set for two, 35,000 won
Even the side dish kimchi was so good. At a kalguksu place, kimchi is the most important thing, and after one bite I got really excited for the noodles too haha. We ordered the chicken kalguksu + roe kalguksu + potato pancake (₩35,000) set for two! Total value for money, right?

Chicken kalguksu: light, clean broth
My chicken kalguksu arrived. It came out looking so clean and neat that it put me in a good mood. One sip in, the broth was so refreshing that I thought it'd be perfect for a hangover 🤧
Slurp slurp =3 The chicken kalguksu had such a light, clean broth flavor. It's a taste kids could easily eat too, so it seems great for families

Roe kalguksu: a bowl packed with roe
My mom said she was craving something spicy, so she ordered the roe kalguksu. It had so much roe packed in that we ate until we were completely full... Both the chicken kalguksu and roe kalguksu really came in huge portions, so you can eat until you're stuffed

Potato pancake at Todamok
And then the potato pancake arrived! It looked like it was made from fried potato shreds straight up, with the potato smell wafting up — it looked so delicious 🍟
Crispy and crunchy, and even more delicious eaten on a rainy day 💗 The combo of kalguksu and potato pancake was so, so good

Restrooms and cleanliness at Todamok
The food is great, but the restaurant is also super clean, and the restroom especially was spotless and easy to use. There's a sink just for washing your hands right outside the restroom, and the inside was very clean and spacious too!

The mini animal farm kids love
One more great point for families visiting: there's a mini animal farm! Inside were adorable rabbits and guinea pigs, so cute... 🥹 The farm wasn't just animals left to their own devices either — it was managed so cleanly that I could tell the owner really cares about cleanliness

There were also fish inside, and the little ones loved it haha. When I was little, going somewhere like this during a meal out was so much fun — while parents eat, kids can just look around at this stuff, which seems really nice. Good food to eat and things for kids to see — isn't Todamok Ansan branch just perfect as a family dining spot!

Is Todamok worth it? Final thoughts on this Ansan kalguksu restaurant
It hasn't been open long so word hasn't spread much yet, but it's clean and delicious, and I really want to recommend it to people around me — Todamok! If you're looking for a good restaurant in Ansan, I highly recommend Todamok for kalguksu, potato pancake, and bossam (boiled pork wraps) ❤︎
