Worang Myeongga Daejeon Doan Branch, a Daejeon hanwoo restaurant / A recommended hanwoo room restaurant for family dinners
It had been a while since I'd taken my family out to eat, so while looking for hanwoo (Korean beef) spots in Daejeon, I booked and visited Worang Myeongga Daejeon Doan Branch.
When eating with family, taste matters a lot, but so does the seating and atmosphere. If there are several of you and the place is too loud or the tables are packed together, it can be uncomfortable to talk.
At Worang Myeongga Daejeon Doan Branch you can book a private room, so we reserved one in advance. We could chat comfortably as a family while eating, and everything from the hanwoo quality to the table setting was satisfying.
Where is Worang Myeongga Daejeon Doan Branch, and what are the parking and hours?

Worang Myeongga Daejeon Doan Branch is on the 1st floor at 23 Doan-dong-ro 12beon-gil, Seo-gu. It's open from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with a break time from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Last order is 9:30 PM, so it also works well for dinner or a group get-together.

If you're driving, you can use the building's underground parking lot (located at the rear of the building). Parking is free for 3 hours.

I also drove there with my family that day, and after the meal we just registered our parking at the counter — simple.
When a whole family group is moving together, inconvenient parking can be a real hassle, so it was nice that everything from parking to dining went smoothly.
Inside Worang Myeongga: private room seating and how much grill smoke?

Worang Myeongga Daejeon Doan Branch had a spacious interior overall with plenty of seats. The tables weren't cramped either, so I could eat comfortably without worrying about the next table.

Besides the regular seating, there were also separate private rooms. Since we came for a family meal, we booked a room in advance.

Each room had its own air conditioner, so it barely felt hot even with the grill going constantly. Ventilation worked well too, so despite grilling for a long time, the smoke never felt stuffy or uncomfortable.
At Korean BBQ places, the room can often get hot or smoky while you eat. That day we grilled for quite a long time, but the room stayed comfortable the whole time, so we could eat at ease.

Best of all, the space was separated from other tables, which made it great for talking as a family. We didn't have to worry much about noise around us, and it was a good place to bring parents too.
With plenty of overall seating plus private rooms, it would work well not just for family meals but also for company dinners or group gatherings.
How the butcher-shop system works: choosing your hanwoo
Worang Myeongga operates butcher-shop style, so you can look at the hanwoo directly and choose the cuts and composition you like.
Being able to check the marbling and weight with your own eyes before ordering made choosing easier than just looking at a menu. It was also great for picking a mix everyone in the family would enjoy, since we each like different cuts.

Worang Myeongga says it selects meat mainly around top-grade 1++ hanwoo, and specifically only uses hanwoo cows aged 30–40 months. On top of that, the meat goes through the restaurant's own aging process to bring out the natural flavor and tender texture of hanwoo.

With Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) coming up, they also had hanwoo gift sets ready. Since this is a place that specializes in hanwoo, it seemed like something you could confidently give as a gift to parents or family.

There was also a separate meal menu. Even at lunchtime there were quite a lot of customers, and it looked like a good option even if you just wanted the meal menu rather than grilled hanwoo — galbitang (short rib soup, ₩15,000), hanwoo yukhoe bibimbap (₩13,000), hanwoo gukbap (₩12,000), and so on.
The hanwoo assortment, side dishes, and the self-serve bar

We wanted to try a variety of cuts, so we chose the hanwoo assortment. Since everyone in the family likes slightly different cuts, being able to taste several at once made it great for sharing.

We ate the meat lightly cooked rather than well done. One bite and it wasn't chewy at all — tender, and the more you chewed, the more you could taste hanwoo's distinct savory flavor and aroma. Hanwoo is love.

The basic table setting fee is ₩2,000 per person. The side dishes were also good quality — japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), marinated crab, salad, and other banchan that paired well with the meat all came out. The hanwoo soup, in particular, was genuinely delicious.
Eating only hanwoo can get a bit heavy after a while, but mixing in the side dishes and hanwoo soup along the way meant we could keep eating comfortably to the end. Best combo!

They also gave us raw beef sashimi, beef tripe, and pollock roe, which made the table setting feel generous. Nice to have extra things to eat alongside the meat!

There was also a separate self-serve bar, so we could help ourselves to as much extra banchan as we wanted, which was convenient. We went back for more of the japchae and acorn jelly a few times — the ones you keep reaching for.
How do you reserve a private room?

Since we visited for a family meal, we booked a room in advance. There really were quite a lot of customers even at lunchtime, so if you want a private room, I'd recommend booking ahead. Reservations can be made by phone.
Worang Myeongga Daejeon Doan Branch: the verdict

Worang Myeongga has 3 locations in Daejeon in total, so it's nice that you can pick the one closest to you. This time I visited the Daejeon Doan branch.

Being able to see and choose top-grade 1++ hanwoo directly in the composition we wanted was satisfying, but what I liked most was being able to eat comfortably with my family in a private room.
Each room had good air conditioning and ventilation, so it stayed comfortable the whole time we were grilling, and with the self-serve bar we could easily add more side dishes.
If you're looking for a Daejeon hanwoo restaurant to visit with your parents, or a BBQ spot that's good for a family meal or group dinner, give Worang Myeongga Daejeon Doan Branch a try.
