Whole-peanut peanut bread at Daeshin Peanut Bread Seomyeon Branch

When you're shopping or meeting friends in Seomyeon and finish a meal, you naturally start looking for a simple Seomyeon dessert. This time, a yellow sign caught my eye as I was walking by, so let me introduce Daeshin Peanut Bread Seomyeon Branch :)

This is a spot where you can find the peanut bread (땅콩빵) that became famous at Seomun Market in Daegu, now in Seomyeon, Busan. The feature is that actual whole peanuts are pressed right into these small peanut-shaped breads. Prices start at a light ₩3,000 for 20 pieces, and besides peanut bread there's egg bread with a whole big egg inside, roasted peanuts, peanut butter, and even peanut latte — a good stop for a snack while passing through Seomyeon.

Since I have a lot of kids, I tend to buy generous amounts even for a small snack haha — 80 pieces for ₩10,000, with gift box packaging available, was great for taking home and sharing with everyone.

Yellow Daeshin Peanut Bread Seomyeon Branch storefront sign

You can spot the storefront easily even from a distance. The sign uses yellow and orange overall, with 'Daeshin Peanut Bread' written large. The sign also carries the phrases Daegu Seomun Market Feat. Egg Bread and 100% Peanut Butter.

Peanut bread character standing sign at the entrance

At the entrance there's also a big standing sign with a cute peanut bread character on it, introducing the peanut bread and egg bread that became popular at Seomun Market, a big traditional market in Daegu — so I knew exactly what the shop sold even before stepping in.

These days Seomyeon is packed with cafés and dessert shops, but this kind of old-school snack you can pick up piece by piece while walking has its own charm haha. The store itself is small, and since it's order-and-take-away, it was easy to stop by while wandering around Seomyeon.

Peanut bread you see right away in the store

Display case with peanut bread and egg bread

Walking in, the first thing that catches your eye is the display case. Egg bread sits on one side, and next to it a mountain of small peanut-shaped peanut bread. From far away they look like mini breads, but up close each one is baked into an actual peanut shape, which was pretty cute.

Close-up of peanut bread showing whole peanuts

Look closely and you can see many pieces have whole peanuts with their reddish skin still visible poking through the bread. It looked completely different from breads that just use peanut flavoring. The staff took my order and packed the peanut bread from the case right there, and I could watch the whole packing process through the clear glass.

With peanuts poking out here and there through the golden-brown bread, I kept staring while I waited haha.

Daeshin Peanut Bread menu and prices

Daeshin Peanut Bread menu board for peanut bread and egg bread

Let me lay out the menu prices.

  • Peanut bread, 20 pieces ₩3,000
  • Peanut bread, 45 pieces ₩6,000
  • Peanut bread, 80 pieces ₩10,000

The 80-piece option can be packed in a gift box, and the in-store notice said they can bake it without peanuts on request. Peanut lovers will naturally go for the classic version with whole peanuts, but if you just love the bread itself or want a peanut-free version, it seems worth asking when ordering.

  • Egg bread, 1 piece ₩2,000
  • Egg bread, 3 pieces ₩5,500
  • Egg bread, 7 pieces ₩12,000

Beyond bread, there was also a range of peanut-related items.

  • Roasted peanuts 500g ₩5,000 / 1kg ₩10,000
  • Peanut butter Creamy 150g ₩4,000
  • Peanut butter Creamy 400g ₩10,000
  • Peanut butter Crunchy 400g ₩12,000

They also sell peanut latte. I'd assumed this was just a peanut bread shop, but once inside, the lineup from roasted peanuts to peanut butter turned out to be quite varied.

A whole side of the shop filled with real peanuts

A pile of reddish peanuts on one side of the store

This is one side of the shop, filled to the brim with peanuts. A wooden bin was piled high with reddish peanuts, and next to it the roasted peanut prices were posted: 1 doe (1kg) ₩10,000 / half doe (500g) ₩5,000. So you can come for peanut bread and pick up roasted peanuts at the same time.

Store wall with a sign about ice-cold peanut bread

The shop had various peanut-related notices posted, and on the wall there was also a sign saying 'delicious even eaten as ice-cold peanut bread.'

In person, the peanut bread is bigger than expected

Packaging box filled with peanut bread and egg bread

I opened the package right after packing it up. The box was full of small peanut-shaped breads, with egg bread packed on top, so the size difference was obvious right away.

A bite-sized peanut bread held on a palm

When you put one peanut bread on your palm, it's a nice one-or-two-bite size. But look closely and, true to its name, the peanut presence is significant. Placing several in my hand, some had about 2-3 whole peanuts visible, and others had 4 packed tightly in — some had more peanut than bread visible haha.

Biting into the part with whole peanuts, you get the softly baked bread and the peanut's firm, nutty texture together, which feels quite different from a plain mini bread. The outside is baked golden brown; where there's no peanut you taste the bread itself, and where peanuts cluster, the nutty flavor jumps out more the more you chew. Since each piece is small, it's not the kind of thing you eat just one of haha — you keep grabbing another, and another, which made it a Seomyeon dessert I kept reaching for.

Egg bread with a whole egg inside

A large Daeshin Peanut Bread egg bread

Another menu item worth noting alongside peanut bread at Daeshin Peanut Bread is the egg bread (계란빵, egg-filled bread). It sat right next to the peanut bread in the display case, and the size difference was obvious immediately. I cut one in half myself — you really have to see the cross-section to understand.

Cross-section of egg bread showing a whole egg

A whole egg is baked right into the center of the bread, so you can see the white and yolk clearly. With a big yellow yolk sitting on both cut sides, I was surprised all over again by the size, having expected a typical small egg bread. With bread and a whole egg together, even one piece felt more substantial and filling than the peanut bread. Eating it fresh right after it's made is easiest, but if it's cooled down, you can also warm it up following the in-store instructions.

Egg bread is also good lightly reheated

In-store notice on how to reheat egg bread
Posted notice with microwave reheating times

There was a funny sign in the store: 'CPR trick for making egg bread taste freshly made' haha. It said heating a cooled egg bread in the microwave for about 20-30 seconds brings it back to freshly baked. Another separate notice listed microwave for about 15-20 seconds, or air fryer at 160°C for about 4-5 minutes — so it's probably best to adjust a bit depending on your appliance and the bread's condition. Rather than going long from the start, heating briefly and checking is the easiest approach :)

Freeze the leftover peanut bread

If you buy a generous amount like 80 pieces, finishing it all at once can be tough.

Peanut bread packaging box with storage instructions printed on it

Daeshin Peanut Bread prints detailed storage and reheating instructions right on the packaging box itself. Leftover peanut bread can be kept in the freezer and eaten as-is as ice-cold peanut bread. Cold peanut bread felt unfamiliar to me at first, but there were signs all over the store saying it's tasty as ice-cold peanut bread too.

If you want it warm again, the method is simple.

  • Air fryer: preheat to 180°C → 50-60 seconds → remove and let cool at room temperature for 1+ minute before eating
  • Microwave 700W: heat 40-50 seconds
  • Microwave 1000W: heat 30-40 seconds

Even after microwaving, the instructions say to let it cool for at least 1 minute before eating. Since appliance output and bread condition can vary, it's best to adjust a bit based on the method printed on the box. Having these instructions right on the box meant I didn't have to search anything separately once home. Anyone buying larger amounts, like 45 or 80 pieces, will especially want to know the freezer method.

Box packaging works as a gift too

Handle box packaging with a printed character
DAESIN PEANUT branded plastic bag packaging

They packed it in a dedicated handle box with a cute character printed on it, then put that into a dedicated plastic bag with 'DAESIN PEANUT' printed large on it. It was easy to carry around, and convenient to pick up last, at the end of wandering elsewhere in Seomyeon, before heading home. For 80-piece orders, the menu board specifically noted gift box packaging, making it a good pick not just for family snacks but for a snack to share among a group or a light gift.

They also sell 100% peanut butter

Peanut butter products were also displayed inside the store. Alongside the phrase 'Korea's only self-roasted Daeshin Peanut Bread,' both peanut butter and peanut bread were featured, and at the entrance there was a notice that it's 100% peanut butter made only from peanuts, with no additives. It comes in creamy and crunchy types, so you can choose based on preference, and with sizes from a small 150g creamy jar up to 400g, it looked like a good starting point for first-timers wanting a smaller size.

Easy to carry and eat while out in Seomyeon

The advantage of Daeshin Peanut Bread is that it's not a dessert you need to sit down for. You can take it and go right away, and since each peanut bread is small, it's easy to eat one at a time while walking. It's a low-pressure option whether you want dessert after a meal near Seomyeon Station or a quick snack while shopping.

Since 20 pieces cost ₩3,000, first-timers can start small, and if you like it, you can scale up to 45 or 80 pieces — that's another plus! With individual desserts getting pretty pricey these days, if you're looking for Seomyeon food that a group can share, this is approachable on price too.

Who this is good for

This suits anyone looking for a Seomyeon Station dessert to eat simply after a meal, anyone wanting a snack different from typical café desserts, anyone shopping in Seomyeon who wants something easy to eat on the go, families needing a snack to share with kids, and anyone who loves the nutty taste of whole peanuts.

With options from 20 to 80 pieces, you can pick anything from a solo or two-person snack to a family snack or a group-sharing set, and with box packaging and freezer storage both possible, it's easy to take home instead of eating right away. With peanut bread plus egg bread, roasted peanuts, and peanut butter all in one place, it can be a distinctive choice when you're looking for a Seomyeon bakery dessert.

Daeshin Peanut Bread Seomyeon Branch FAQ

How many pieces should I get on a first visit?

If it's your first time trying it, the 20-piece ₩3,000 set is low-commitment. If you're sharing with several people or planning to freeze some for later, the 45- or 80-piece sets are more convenient.

If I have to choose between peanut bread and egg bread, what's the difference?

Peanut bread is bite-sized with whole peanuts inside, good for picking up several as a snack, while egg bread is much bigger with an actual whole egg inside, making it relatively more filling. Go for peanut bread if you want a snack, or egg bread if you want something a bit more substantial.

Is it okay to buy a large quantity?

The packaging box has storage and reheating instructions printed on it, so you don't have to eat it all at once. It explains how to eat it frozen like ice-cold peanut bread, or reheat it with a microwave or air fryer, which is handy to reference when buying in bulk.
