Visit to a hanbok rental shop in Jeonju Hanok Village

Our first hanbok snapshots with the kids in Hanok Village

Even though we live in Jeonju, it was our first time dressing the kids in hanbok (traditional Korean dress) and taking snapshots in Jeonju Hanok Village. The kids absolutely loved it, and I was so satisfied too! For this hanbok rental and snapshot session, we visited Gwijok Uisangsil Hanbok Jeonju Hanok Village Branch.

There are so many places for hanbok rental in Jeonju Hanok Village, but Gwijok Uisangsil seems to be the most popular. Customers kept coming in on the day we visited, so the shop was bustling. Lots of people were visiting with group reservations too!

So many rental options, from hanbok to Enlightenment-era costumes

Gwijok Uisangsil is a Jeonju Hanok Village costume-rental specialist with elegant retro interiors, hundreds of gaehwagi (Korean Enlightenment-era) costumes and hanbok, plus a photo studio. The moment I walked in, my jaw just dropped at how many choices there were~ So many people were taking photos in Enlightenment-era outfits too.

From the elegant Enlightenment-era-style interior to children’s outfits and hundreds of period costumes in adult sizes S through 2XL, there is so much to choose from, along with a photo studio that feels wonderfully aristocratic. The studio was continuously in use, so I couldn’t take photos of it!

And when you think of Hanok Village, you can’t leave out hanbok~ Along with regular traditional hanbok, Gwijok Uisangsil has special costumes such as bubsa, royal robes, court eunuchs, Eoudong, and magistrates, as well as the gradient hanbok that is so trendy these days. They take care of everything from the outfit and hair ornaments to all kinds of accessories! Once you put on hanbok, your hair has to look pretty too for the whole look to shine, haha.

The hanbok the kids chose and hair done in five minutes

You have no idea how much my kids had been waiting for this day, haha. Once they each chose the skirt they wanted, the owner matched it with a top and dressed them beautifully!

They can choose one of three hairstyles, and it is finished in a flash, haha. I don’t think it even took five minutes! The owner is seriously so skillful, right? The kids were delighted, saying they looked so pretty, haha. How nice would it be if I had hands that talented tooㅠㅠ

Natural outdoor snapshots of the kids

And the snapshot photos!! For only ₩10,000 per person, you can get high-quality snapshots~ Affordable but high-quality shooting with natural Photoshop retouching! They had a professional photographer with high-end camera equipment.

We took photos outdoors behind Gwijok Uisangsil! They guided the kids so their expressions and movements could be captured naturally, and the photos turned out beautifully!

Outdoor snapshot shoot in Hanok Village

There were so many customers that day, so the retouching took a little while. While the photos were being printed, we strolled around Hanok Village with the kids in their hanbok, then went back at the right time to collect them!

They captured such natural, lovely memories for us, didn’t they? I think they took more than 100 photos, and they were all so good that it was hard to choose one favorite shot each, haha. The kids each picked the photo they liked best, and they made beautiful framed prints! It was a Hanok Village trip that both the kids and I were completely happy with~
