Seongsu café matcha soufflé on a warm date with Mom: 5to7 Seongsu Main Branch

A soufflé café near Seoul Forest, visited with Mom

A happy Seongsu date with Mom~~ Patting our very full bellies, we headed to a fluffy-wuffy soufflé cake shop~~ hehe. Dessert goes in a separate stomach, so of course we had to eat again, teehee. And I wanted an iced Americano too!!! Gotta wake up~~~

I wanted to try a proper soufflé cake, so I searched and searched and landed on 5to7!! 5to7 is a soufflé pancake specialty café that sells only handmade soufflés, and Seongsu is the main branch, so we had to go~~ Off we go! Let's gooo~~~

Being tucked at the very end of the alley means it's right up against Seoul Forest! hahaha The view is going to be great! teehee. In we go, full of expectations, hohoho.

Wood-toned open kitchen and a quiet second floor

The wood-toned interior that greets you the moment you walk in!! Wood + plants, I love it~~~ And it's a completely open kitchen~~!! Yay. You can see exactly what they're making, so you can feel their pride in cleanliness~~ and it's fun watching them make the fluffy cakes and delicious coffees!! hehe.

As you'd expect from a popular spot, the first floor was packed, but they told us there's a second floor too, so we went up the secret path!! The second floor was a bit quieter, which I liked, teehee. And it's just as pretty!!! A wide, open space appeared and I got excited~~!

We picked the wide-open window seat! Sitting side by side with Mom, looking at the lush green view, thinking about the happy time ahead, my shoulders started dancing on their own~~ la-di-da.

The restroom is indoors and clean here, which made me like the place even more!

Matcha soufflé and a nutty iced Americano

Back down to the first floor to pick our menu~~~ We chose the matcha soufflé and two iced Americanos!!

Heart pounding~~ our order finally arrived!!! So fluffy and with such a sweet smell that I snapped photos the moment it came out! hahaha click click.

When I carried it up to the second floor, Mom applauded too!! Asking if we could really eat all of it.. hahaha But in the end we scraped up every last bit of that cream! haha.

I don't like highly acidic Americanos, but this one was so nutty that I gulped down the iced Americano first, haha. And then.. our real goal..! Can you see this soufflé loaded with cream ㅠㅠㅠㅠ

Made to order and still warm after the photos

I'd taken lots of photos and drunk more than half my iced Americano before eating the soufflé, so I figured it would have gone cold, but no..! They say 5to7 soufflés are made the moment you order so you get a warm, fluffy soufflé pancake, and I was totally shocked that it was still warm~~~~

Turns out it's a café whose soufflé expertise is well recognized — it's been featured on TV several times as a soufflé specialist, on shows like Saturday Loves Rice, Live Today, and Live Tonight's Dinner!! And the chewy, bouncy cake clung to my tongue just like you'd expect ㅠㅠㅠㅠ

I also found out that 5to7 Seongsu is so recognized as a soufflé cake spot that it's been invited to Tokyo and Hong Kong to run pop-up events!! The main branch really is a different league~~!

The matcha cream was just sweet enough yet slightly bitter, so I could keep eating and eating without getting tired of it!! Delicious~~ They also make seasonal fruit cakes that change with the season, and funnily enough this time there was a mangosteen soufflé lol. I'd been torn between fig and matcha, so next time I'll pick a fruit one! haha

Recommended to anyone on a date around Seongsu, Ttukseom or Seoul Forest who wants a sweet, feel-good time!!!! Intention to return: 200%!!!
