Suwon Korean restaurant with free rice refills: Jeju Eunhuine

Now that the weather is getting chilly, I keep craving warm soup lately.

My husband and I had visited Jeju Eunhuine Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch (제주은희네해장국 수원인계점) once before, and I remembered enjoying it so much that we also ordered delivery at home a few times. It was good even as delivery, so I would order it whenever the craving hit.

This time, I was in Ingye-dong for an errand when hangover soup suddenly came to mind, so I stopped by Jeju Eunhuine Haejangguk, one of Ingye-dong's popular spots, for the first time in a while.

When you're craving rich, refreshing broth

Jeju Eunhuine Haejangguk says it uses beef-bone broth simmered for 24 hours. Maybe that's why the broth was rich without feeling overly heavy or murky; I loved how clean and refreshing it tasted.

The hangover soup came generously filled with bean sprouts, and the meat was tender, making it perfect for mixing with rice. It's really great for recovering the day after drinking, but it also suits a chilly day when, like me, you simply want a steaming bowl of soup. One hot spoonful felt so comforting, and I was reminded that a bowl of gukbap (rice soup) is simply the best when the weather turns cool.

Choose between hangover soup and beef offal soup

Along with the standard hangover soup, there are various options including beef offal soup. If you love hangover soup, go for the basic menu; if you like seonji (congealed ox blood), you can order seonji soup alongside the basic hangover soup. Those who enjoy chewy offal may want to choose the beef offal soup.

The beef offal soup in particular has tripe and cleaned omasum in a rich beef-bone broth, so the texture is great. It works well not only as a hangover meal but also as something to have with drinks. It seemed nice that even a group could each order according to their own taste.

Jeju-style dombe meat on the side

They don't only serve gukbap dishes; there is Jeju-style dombe meat too. I ordered one small tasting portion.

Dombe meat—sliced pork served on a wooden board—was mild and tender, making it a lovely accompaniment to the hangover soup. I think it would also go nicely with a casual drink in the evening.

The menu lineup worked well: a hearty bowl of gukbap for lunch, or a meal with dombe meat in the evening.

Comfortable seating for solo meals or family dining

The restaurant has a range of seating, from counter seats to tables for four and six, so it doesn't feel awkward to visit alone and looks suitable for family meals or office lunch gatherings too. Food also seemed to come out relatively quickly after ordering, so it could work well for office workers on a tight lunch break. It's a solid place for a simple solo meal while running errands in Ingye-dong, or for dining together with several people.

A hangover soup restaurant with easy parking in Ingye-dong

Parking in Ingye-dong is seriously hell, right? That often makes choosing a restaurant difficult, but parking at Jeju Eunhuine Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch is quite convenient, which I really liked. You can use the spaces in front of the building and the underground garage, so visiting by car felt much less burdensome. It's convenient for stopping in for a meal after coming to Ingye-dong by car for an errand, and I think that is a major advantage.

Free extra rice with one meal ordered per person

Another thing I liked was that extra rice is free when each person orders one meal. When you're eating hangover soup, the broth is so good that you sometimes want another bowl of rice; being able to have more without an added charge makes for a really filling meal. I think this would be especially satisfying for anyone who finds the portion a little lacking or usually eats plenty of rice.

When you're craving hangover soup in Ingye-dong

After my previous visit, I ordered delivery at home several times, but as expected, it tasted even better served hot and fresh at the restaurant. The colder the weather gets, the more I keep thinking of a warm bowl of soup like this. With rich broth, a varied menu, easy parking, and free extra rice, it was a great place for a hearty meal. I think I'll stop by from time to time whenever I'm in Ingye-dong on an errand and crave some hot broth.
