Warm ham cheese sandwich at Grid in Greek, a Suwon café

I was looking for somewhere to have a light brunch in Haenggung-dong, so I visited Grid in Greek (그리드인그릭) Suwon Haenggung branch. Since it serves Greek yogurt and sandwiches together, it seemed like a nice stop somewhere between a meal and a café visit.

It was one of those days when I wanted brunch as well as a good café in Suwon’s Haenggung-dong, so I especially liked the menu selection.

This time, I ordered the seasonal Fig Greek yogurt and the Club Ham Cheese Sandwich. Both were more generous than I expected, so I thought they might be useful references when choosing what to order.

How did I park in Haenggung-dong?

Like most places in Haenggung-dong, there is no dedicated parking lot.

Even the nearby public lots were often full on the weekend, so I had to circle the area quite a few times looking for a space.

If you are heading to a café or restaurant in Suwon’s Haenggung-dong on a weekend, I think it is best to allow extra time for parking. Parking is not especially easy in Haenggung-dong on weekends, so public transport would be much more convenient if possible.

The full-glass exterior makes the shop easy to spot as you walk by, and there were posters for the Greek yogurt and sandwich menu at the entrance.

It was in a convenient spot for stopping by for brunch while walking around Haenggung-dong or on a date around Banghwasuryujeong. If you are looking for a Suwon Haenggung-dong café to pair with sightseeing, the location is worth noting too.

Weekend afternoon seating and atmosphere

The interior is on the small side. At the time I visited, there were about four tables where guests could sit.

I arrived around 4 p.m. on a weekend afternoon, when two tables were occupied. One table happened to leave, so we were able to sit down right away.

Not long after we sat down, another group came in, and three tables filled up quickly. There was no wait, but the café itself is not large, so seats could fill up fast on weekends depending on your timing.

Concrete-look walls and wood tables came together nicely, and one wall was covered with notes left by customers, which was fun to look at while waiting. It is not a large café for lingering for ages; it felt more like a pleasant place to take a short break over Greek yogurt or a sandwich.

Suwon-i merchandise and take-home items

Besides the Suwon-i merchandise, there were granola and jam items that looked easy to enjoy at home.

It was not just a place to eat Greek yogurt or a sandwich; browsing the merchandise and take-home products made looking around the space more fun too. If you stop by while exploring Haenggung-dong, have a look at the Suwon-i merchandise, granola, and jam as well.

Grid in Greek had more Greek yogurt varieties than I expected, along with sandwiches, coffee, milk tea, and drinking yogurt. The menu had a wide range of choices.

When I visited, the seasonal Fig Greek yogurt was also available for ₩8,900.

In addition to coffee, there were options such as misugaru (roasted grain powder) drinks, milk tea, and drinking yogurt.

Fig Greek yogurt and Club Ham Cheese Sandwich

The two things I ordered were the Fig Greek yogurt for ₩8,900 and the Club Ham Cheese Sandwich for ₩10,900.

Seasonal Fig Greek yogurt

The Fig Greek yogurt was the item I was most curious about. As soon as it arrived, I could see a generous amount of figs piled on one side, with plenty of Greek yogurt, pistachios, and granola too.

Above all, the Greek yogurt was really thick and dense. In one bite, the figs, thick Greek yogurt, and pistachio granola worked very well together. There were plenty of toppings, so I could eat it evenly to the end without the toppings disappearing first and leaving only yogurt. Personally, I especially liked that they did not skimp on the toppings.

And if you visit on a weekend, I would recommend going a little earlier. We arrived around 4 p.m., and the Greek yogurt we ordered was the last portion prepared for that day. If Greek yogurt is the main reason for your visit, it would be better to go with a little more time to spare rather than late in the afternoon on weekends.

The warm Club Ham Cheese Sandwich

The Club Ham Cheese Sandwich we ordered alongside it was also quite filling—more than I expected.

Just as in the menu photo, it was visibly thick, with layers of ingredients packed between the bread. I also liked that it was made fresh after ordering and served warm.

These days, when I order a sandwich at a café, I often see baguette or ciabatta-style sandwiches. A warm grilled sandwich like this actually felt like something I had not had in a while.

That made it even more welcome, and it was delicious after so long. If Greek yogurt alone feels a little lacking, it would be nice to order one sandwich to share too.

Why it worked well for brunch in Haenggung-dong

Rather than being a place for Greek yogurt alone, Grid in Greek is good for brunch in Haenggung-dong because you can enjoy sandwiches too. The Fig Greek yogurt I had combined thick yogurt, figs, and pistachio granola nicely, while the Club Ham Cheese Sandwich was satisfying for its generous ingredients and warm serving.

If you are looking for a café or restaurant in Suwon’s Haenggung-dong and want a light meal as well as a café stop, it was a good place to have both. It is also worth a stop if you are looking for a brunch menu on a Haenggung-dong date course. Just keep in mind that the space is small and Greek yogurt can sell out quickly on weekend afternoons.
