Gangdong noodle restaurant with unlimited rice refills: Myeon Sikdang
In short
Myeon Sikdang Godeok Station Branch is a ramen and rice-noodle chain restaurant on the first floor of the Lotteria building by Exit 4 of Godeok Station in Gangdong, Seoul. Three people ordered spicy tonkotsu ramen, mala shabu rice noodles and tonkotsu ramen with 2 pieces of mozzarella cheese katsu and 4 potato croquettes for under 10,000 won each, and rice refills are unlimited when everyone orders a main, so they went back for more. Myeon Sikdang is a value pick that nails the basics.

Myeon Sikdang Godeok Station Branch is easy to find since it's right in the main commercial area near the station, in the same building as a Lotteria.

I stopped by early, before dinner rush.

With one main dish ordered per person, rice refills are unlimited — a nice perk for big eaters or students who are always hungry, haha ^^

[Menu board displayed outside] There were more noodle dishes and side dishes than I expected, so it was nice to have plenty of choice.
Inside Myeon Sikdang: seating and the self-serve bar
Myeon Sikdang Godeok Station Branch is mostly 2-top tables with two 4-top tables, so up to 6 people can eat together, and there are also a few bar seats for solo diners. You order at one of two kiosks, and kimchi, pickled radish, broth, and water are self-serve.

With two kiosks, even a longer line should move pretty quickly.

[Self-serve bar] Kimchi, pickled radish, broth, and water are all self-serve here.
It's mostly 2-top tables, but with two 4-tops, up to 6 people can fit in together. Of course there are also a few bar seats for solo diners. Overall the interior was clean and neat, as you'd expect from a recently opened spot.

What three people ordered for under 10,000 won each
The three of us ordered spicy tonkotsu ramen, mala shabu rice noodles, tonkotsu ramen (rich broth), mozzarella cheese katsu 2p, and potato croquette 4p. Under ₩10,000 per person, so it was pretty good value.

Since it's called Myeon Sikdang ("noodle restaurant"), ramen, soba, udon, and rice noodles are the main draws, but the side dishes, rice bowls, and tonkatsu are also solid quality for the price.

Next time I'd like to try the set with the smoky-flavored mini buta don (pork rice bowl), haha

This set looked pretty good too ^^

Snapping the kiosk screen for reference.

Looking at the reviews, the shrimp tempura also got great ratings.

I ended up eating the rice too, lol

How the ramen, rice noodles and sides tasted

After ordering the dishes above, we got our pickled radish, kimchi, and broth ready.

[Aerial shot of the order]

[Spicy tonkotsu ramen]

[Potato croquette]

[Tonkotsu ramen]

[Mozzarella cheese katsu]
[Mala shabu rice noodles]

[Free rice refill] These are all pretty familiar dishes so there's not much need to explain in detail, but the tonkotsu ramen had a rich broth, the mala shabu rice noodles had just the right numbing-spicy kick from the mala, the potato croquette showcased the softness of the potato, and the mozzarella cheese katsu really delivered that chewy mozzarella texture. Everything nailed the basics well enough that you could see why people call it great value! My friend who came along was also more than satisfied, saying it was better than expected.
The friendly staff (owners) also made sure we could eat comfortably, which made for a good time. Next time I'd like to come back and focus on the dishes I haven't tried yet. Even though it's a chain, I hope it stays true to its roots and remains a great-value spot.
