Jeongjeong-a Sikdang Jeongwang Branch: a chicken stew restaurant near Jeongwang Station

I was really craving Korean food~~ so after work I headed to Jeongjeong-a Sikdang, a famous Jeongwang-dong restaurant in Siheung, haha. I'd heard about this place as a dakbokkeumtang spot for ages! Went there for a hearty dinner, a solid Jeongwang-dong restaurant pick, haha.
It's close to Jeongwang Station and near Siheung Bus Terminal too, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for restaurants around Jeongwang Station or Siheung Terminal~~

Inside: wide table seating for team dinners

As soon as I walked in, I saw the wide table seating and thought 'wow, this would be perfect for a company dinner in Siheung or Jeongwang-dong!' And sure enough — there were actually people having a work dinner there~~
Menu and prices: soju and beer at 3,900 won

The main menu at this Jeongwang-dong restaurant is dakbokkeumtang, cockles, and grilled kodari (dried pollack). The dakbokkeumtang has 3 adjustable spice levels, and sizes range from 2 to 4 people, so order according to your group size~~
They also sell cockle bibimbap as a solo-friendly meal, so it's also a good Jeongwang-dong lunch spot even if you're dining alone. Beyond that there are extra menu items like acorn jelly, seafood pancake, muchae (jellied mung bean noodle salad), and boiled squid, great as drinking snacks after the main dish, haha.

Drinks are self-serve. And look at these drink prices, ugh — soju and beer are both ₩3,900!!!!
A real budget-friendly drinking spot near Jeongwang Station, haha.
Small dakbokkeumtang for two at spice level 2

There were two of us, so we ordered the small size dakbokkeumtang. We picked spice level 2, about as spicy as Shin Ramyun, haha. The basic side dishes were baechu kimchi and mul kimchi (watery radish kimchi), and that mul kimchi was delicious~~ sweet and reeeally refreshing!
It genuinely feels like it helps digestion as you eat, haha.

Rice is ordered separately, so we added some, and it came out completely packed full...!!
Loved that, haha.

Finally, the signature dish of this Siheung Korean restaurant, dakbokkeumtang, arrived~~~ haha

The chicken is domestic Korean chicken.

Just look at that visual — perfect as a drinking snack too~~ Anyone looking for a bar in Jeongwang-dong!! It's here!! Cheap drinks and great value at Jeongjeong-a Sikdang!

Once it comes to a boil you can eat it right away!! The sauce is sweet and spicy, haha. I'm a total wimp with spice but level 2 wasn't bad at all! Might try level 3 next time, haha. The chicken is tender and makes the rice disappear — total rice thief!
Definitely a solid Jeongwang-dong Korean food spot, haha.
Seafood pancake, 14,500 won: crisp like a potato pancake

We weren't quite done, so we ordered the seafood pancake too, haha.

The seafood pancake was packed with mussels, squid, clams, and more seafood! The outside was crispy with a texture more like a shredded potato pancake!? A bit different from a typical seafood pancake.
Kind of reminded me of okonomiyaki!? Loved how many vegetables were in it!

Had to mix the leftover dakbokkeumtang broth with rice~~ We came home absolutely stuffed, haha.

I noticed other tables ordering cockle salad alongside their dakbokkeumtang, so next time I'll try the cockle salad too~~ haha
