Sadang Station Chinese restaurant: ₩15,000 lunch special with fried

In short

Baoro China Sadang Branch is a room-style Chinese restaurant on the 2nd floor, 3 minutes on foot from Sadang Station exits 11 or 12 in Seocho, Seoul. The weekday lunch special (₩15,000 per person) pairs yusanseul (stir-fried vegetables and seafood) with whole freshly-fried sweet and sour pork and a choice of jjajangmyeon or jjamppong. The portions felt generous for the price, making it a lunch course worth revisiting.

We'd come back to Korea after a long time to take care of a bunch of things, and since there aren't many Korean-style Chinese restaurants back in Canada, I really wanted to eat at one again haha!

Luckily there was a great Chinese restaurant nearby, so we timed our visit for lunch. That place is called "Baoro China."

The walk from Sadang Station to Baoro China

The restaurant came into view about 3 minutes after walking from exit 11 or 12 of Sadang Station, so the accessibility was really great.

It's right on the 2nd floor so it was easy to find too! There's an elevator inside the building, so anyone who doesn't feel like climbing the stairs can just take the elevator up — so convenient!

Inside, with private rooms — perfect for a lunch gathering

Once inside, we saw there were several private rooms, which looked great for group gatherings! Honestly, it seemed like the perfect spot for an office lunch. You could have a private conversation, so it felt ideal for group meals.

The indoor hall seating also had plenty of space, so even talking didn't turn into noise bouncing around — really nice.

And if you need extra sauce, it's already sitting right there on the table, so you can just pour it on whenever — so convenient!

The lunch special menu and prices

So what did we order? We went with the lunch special.

The set prices started at ₩15,000 per person! We ordered the yusanseul + sweet and sour pork + meal (jjajangmyeon or jjamppong) set.

There were also plenty of other meal options and alcohol menus, so there was a lot to choose from! Unfortunately since it was lunchtime we didn't order any alcohol, but if you want to try the Chinese-restaurant-style gaoliang liquor, this looked like a good place to come for that too!

Yusanseul plain first, then dipped in the red vinegar sauce

Ta-da — right after ordering, the yusanseul and red vinegar sauce came out super fast!! According to the server, you should eat it plain first, then dip it in the sauce afterward.

Eating it that way, the yusanseul's own flavor really came through at first, and dipping it in the sauce afterward brought out even more umami! We actually liked it plain a bit more, but dipping it in the sweet-and-sour sauce washes away any greasiness completely! Definitely worth trying both ways when you visit.

Whole, freshly-fried sweet and sour pork

Then the sweet and sour pork came out! It arrived whole, freshly fried like that, and they gave us scissors and tongs to cut it ourselves. We love the crispy texture of sweet and sour pork, so we tried it as a whole piece and it was so good!

We're the dip-the-sauce-on-lightly type, and it melted in our mouths! Extremely satisfying.

Jjajangmyeon and jjamppong, with a rich broth

Next, finally, the main dishes — jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) and jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) arrived! We were already getting full, but seeing the main dish, our chopsticks moved forward on their own again!

The main dishes were really delicious too! Both were seasoned really well, and the jjamppong especially had such deep flavor — you could taste the chili oil and rich seafood in the broth! I wanted to mix a bowl of rice right into the jjamppong. If we hadn't ordered the set, I'd already be mixing rice into both the jjajangmyeon and jjamppong!

For ₩15,000, this kind of spread?

After eating, this felt like such a generous restaurant — ₩15,000 per person didn't feel like a waste at all. Seeing customers keep coming in throughout lunchtime, I could tell all over again how popular this place is. Next time I visit, I want to try set number 2 as well.

So if we get the chance, we're definitely coming back!! If you all get the chance sometime, go visit Baoro China Sadang Branch and eat there!! Highly recommend.
