Gangnam Station study café with 2nd-floor cold brew: Selected Nicks
In short
Selected Nicks is a large café on Teheran-ro 4-gil near Gangnam Station in Seoul, spread from basement level 1 all the way up to a rooftop. With time to spare before a dinner appointment, the writer stopped in alone, ordered pistachio tiramisu and a cold brew, and rested at a white-toned 2nd-floor seat surrounded by exhibited artwork. The tiramisu had plenty of pistachio, nutty rather than heavily sweet, and it matched the coffee well, while the wide seating at Selected Nicks also works for laptop work or studying.

It's always a bit of a dilemma figuring out where to go near Gangnam Station when you have an appointment or some odd stretch of time to kill. I had a schedule in Gangnam recently with quite a bit of time before my meeting, so I went looking for somewhere to rest and finally checked out Selected Nicks, a place I'd been curious about for a while.

I planned to just grab a coffee and leave, but once I got there the space was bigger than expected and the tiramisu lineup was so varied that I ended up spending a genuinely fun amount of time there.

I went alone, but the atmosphere at this Gangnam Station café was great, and it looked like a good spot to sit quietly with a laptop open — so anyone looking for a study café near Gangnam Station might want to keep this in mind.

Where is Selected Nicks, and how big is this Gangnam Station café?
Selected Nicks sits in a spot that's an easy walk from Gangnam Station. The address is 37 Teheran-ro 4-gil, 1st floor, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
The place runs from basement level 1 all the way up to a rooftop, so from the moment I walked in I got the sense that the space was seriously large.

That made it look like a solid option for coming alone to have coffee or study with a laptop at this Gangnam Station café. Parking is available too, but conditions vary depending on the vehicle, so if you're driving it's worth checking in advance.

Tiramisu flavours at Selected Nicks: banana pistachio to Dubai chocolate
I went in on the 1st floor to order first. But before I even got to ordering, the desserts caught my eye — the tiramisu lineup in particular was quite varied.

On top of the classic tiramisu, there were options like banana pistachio and Dubai chocolate tiramisu (dubai tiramisu) — things you don't usually see at cafés near Gangnam Station.

I hadn't really planned on getting dessert, but after seeing this lineup, walking out with just a coffee felt like a waste, haha. So after some deliberation I ordered the pistachio tiramisu along with a cold brew.

I had a dinner appointment ahead of me so I didn't want to overeat, but one tiramisu should be fine, right? Haha.

Pistachio tiramisu at a white-toned 2nd-floor seat
I picked up my order and headed to the 2nd floor. The 2nd floor of Selected Nicks felt clean overall, built around a white tone, and I liked how open and airy it felt rather than cramped.

Artworks were displayed on one side, which gave it a slightly gallery-like feel compared to a typical café. I found a seat and finally got to the pistachio tiramisu.

The look of it was pretty striking from the start — a generous amount of pistachio piled on top. I'd assumed it was just a topping for color, but once I actually tasted it, the nutty flavor and texture of the pistachio really came through.

If you like pistachio, I think you'd really enjoy this part.

How the pistachio tiramisu tastes with Selected Nicks cold brew
Tiramisu, since it's built on cream, can end up feeling a bit heavy or too sweet if it's not made well.

But the tiramisu here didn't feel heavy on the cream to me. The sponge layer was on the moist side too, and eating it together with the cream went down smoothly.

Above all, the sweetness wasn't overpowering, so it went well with the coffee. The cold brew I ordered was good too.

The coffee wasn't overly bitter or heavy — it had a clean, subtly nutty flavor that balanced the sweetness of the tiramisu well.

Personally, when coffee is too bitter it can sometimes bury the flavor of the dessert, but this combination felt like the two brought out the best in each other — I liked that.

Is Selected Nicks good for solo laptop work and studying?
This time I had a gap in my schedule and ended up visiting Selected Nicks alone, and my overall satisfaction was higher than expected. The coffee and tiramisu were both delicious, and

the café itself is spacious, so it was easy to spend time comfortably without worrying about other people around. It seemed especially good for anyone bringing a laptop to work or study alone.

With a wide range of seating options and a lot of space, it's easy to find a spot that suits the situation. So if you're looking for a place to study near Gangnam Station, this one is worth checking out.
Looking for a café near Gangnam Station? Final thoughts on Selected Nicks
Overall, Selected Nicks left the impression of a large café better suited to using the space at your leisure rather than just grabbing a coffee and leaving.

The tiramisu lineup was varied, and the pistachio tiramisu I had kept that nutty flavor front and center, which was satisfying.

On top of that, you can enjoy coffee alongside it, and being able to take in the Gangnam view from the rooftop was also a fun touch.

If you're looking for a café to visit before or after an appointment near Gangnam Station, or want to spend some time with a good dessert, Selected Nicks is worth a stop.

Next time I'll have to come with my wife and try the tiramisus I didn't get to this time, one by one, haha.
