Dongtan hair salon men's down perm and gray hair dye: Juno Hair

My husband has thick, curly hair that gets messy within a month or two — sigh. This time we went to Juno Hair Dongtan Solbitnaru Branch and got everything done at once: cut, down perm, and dye! The salon had such a classy vibe overall, and they were so thorough from consultation through to the actual service. Here's my review of my husband's hair day at Juno Hair Dongtan Solbitnaru Branch ✔️

Juno Hair Dongtan Solbitnaru Branch is a Dongtan hair salon on the 2nd floor of Jeongrim Plaza, 65 Dongtansolbit-ro, near the commercial block in front of Ssangyong Yega Apartment in Bansong-dong, Dongtan-gu. Parking is free in the underground lot of the Juno Hair building.

I booked a few days ahead and arrived right at my appointment time. They're open daily from 10:00 to 21:00, with no days off.

Inside Juno Hair Dongtan Solbitnaru: an upscale, spacious salon

At Juno Hair Dongtan Solbitnaru Branch, you step off the elevator straight into the salon. The layout is split into left and right sections around a central counter/home bar, and overall it felt clean and roomy — more spacious than I expected.

This is the white zone on the left side of the salon. Apparently it's only used when there are lots of weekend customers, so on weekdays it usually sits empty like this. There are air purifiers scattered around the salon too, haha — as someone sensitive to air quality, I always check for stuff like this, and yep, the air was nice and fresh 👍🏻

In the middle of the salon there's a separate waiting table set up for companions, so while my husband got his hair done I sat there, read magazines, and waited comfortably ^^ All the premium hair products Juno Hair uses have their prices clearly displayed too, so you can shop without any pressure!

Can you bring kids? Family room, play room and reading zone

The brown zone on the right side of the salon is used every day, weekday or weekend, and just behind it there's a separate family room where families can visit together and relax comfortably while getting styled — great for bringing kids along ^^

There's also a play room for kids, a reading zone stocked with all kinds of books, and private 1-2 person shampoo rooms. This is clearly a neighborhood where a lot of parents bring their kids, and I saw plenty of families doing exactly that without any hesitation, haha.

Before my husband's service even started, they set me up with drinks and snacks as the companion, so I got to sit back, read magazines, and basically enjoy it like a café visit ^^

Hair condition before the men's cut, down perm and dye

Before the service, my husband's hair had gray strands, and even though it had only been 4 weeks since his last cut, it was already looking shaggy ;; His curls also made his hair puff out, so this time we decided to do the cut, down perm, and dye all in one go.

We booked with a male designer, Seonghee, and what I liked most was that beyond being friendly and giving detailed explanations from the consultation onward, he really listened to and followed our preferences more than anything ⭐️

The order: dandy cut, then down perm on both sides, then black dye

At Juno Hair Dongtan Solbitnaru Branch, they do the cut first, then the down perm on both sides, then the dye, in that order. He gave my husband the clean dandy cut he wanted, and for the down perm he kept it to just enough to tame the side hair, saying pressing it too flat could actually look awkward. For the dye, instead of going too light, he went with a calm black that suited my husband's face, applied cleanly ^^

Ta-da~ The finished look after about 3 hours! The side hair definitely came down calmer, and with the styling on top, the whole thing looked much more polished and clean ✨

Down perm before and after — and the one letdown

Comparing before and after, the top was naturally shaped by the cut, and the sides were pressed down just enough by the down perm for a much more put-together look. The cut lines blended well with the down perm for an overall neat style, and my husband was happy with it too, haha. While waiting during the dye process he moved a bit and got a little dye on his neck, but it came right off after shampooing for 2-3 days ^^;

He's also happy that morning styling is so much easier now — the side hair means he doesn't need to blow-dry for long. That said, his hair grows fast, so we're planning to come back for another down perm and dye every 3-4 months to keep it maintained!
