Anyang group dinner grill house with thin pork galbi: Sannae Sutbul

In short

Sannae Sutbul Galbi Bakdal Branch is a charcoal grill house in Bakdal-dong, Anyang, Gyeonggi, built around a single main dish: seasoned Korean pork ribs (한돈양념돼지갈비). On a weekday visit at 5:30pm, two servings arrived cut thinner than usual pork galbi, so the marinade soaked in well and the meat came out very tender. Parking at Sannae Sutbul Galbi is limited to about two cars in front of the restaurant, but the dining room is clean enough to recommend for a group work dinner.

How many cars can park at Sannae Sutbul Galbi Bakdal Branch?

Sannae Sutbul Galbi, an Anyang galbi spot known for great taste, has room for about 2 cars right in front of the store. It was a bit disappointing that there's no separate parking lot, but the ribs were so good that I've bookmarked it on the map as an Anyang galbi place worth revisiting often.

A one-dish menu: seasoned Korean pork ribs

The signature menu at Sannae Sutbul Galbi Bakdal Branch is just one thing: seasoned pork ribs (한돈양념돼지갈비). No clutter of extra dishes, just one focused main — I liked that! There's also Korean beef tartare (한우육회) as a side, and I wanted to order it, but it was sold out that day, ㅠㅠ. I'll definitely try it next visit! There was also a guide on how to grill the meat well, so I read through it before the food came out.

At first they bring out the side dishes, and if you run low while eating, you can grab more from the self-serve bar.

What the dining room is like on a weekday at 5:30pm

I visited around 5:30pm on a weekday. Since it was an early weekday dinner hour, I figured it'd be a little quiet, but there were actually a lot of people already eating inside. Once I tasted the food myself, I understood why so many people come here! The overall vibe of the place was clean and tidy, the restroom was inside the restaurant too, and it was spotless — really pleasant to use :)

Once seated, a variety of side dishes that pair well with galbi came out. At a grill house, the main dish matters, but the side dishes are surprisingly important too, right? Everything came out looking clean and well-arranged, and the sides all went well with the meat, haha.

Why thinner-cut pork galbi tastes more tender

I love pork ribs and have tried them at plenty of places, but the ones at Sannae Sutbul Galbi looked a little different right from the start. The meat was noticeably thinner than the pork ribs I usually get elsewhere.

At first I thought, huh, this is thinner than I expected? But once it was grilled over the charcoal, the meat turned out really, really, really tender.

Maybe because it's a bit thinner, the seasoning soaked into the meat really well, and once it got golden brown on the grill, the sweet flavor of the sauce came through even more — it was so good.

Two servings, even while dieting

Thanks to the gentle charcoal fire at Sannae Sutbul Galbi, even I — someone who's bad at grilling meat — could cook it without burning it, and it was delicious. It tasted great with rice, great wrapped in lettuce, and great eaten on its own too!

I'm dieting so I was trying not to eat too much, but that day I gave in (?) and ate two servings. Honestly, if it weren't for the diet, I would've eaten even more ㅠ..ㅠ Next time I visit, I'm going all in without holding back!

Is Sannae Sutbul Galbi good for a group work dinner?

I'd recommend Sannae Sutbul Galbi Bakdal Branch as a spot for a work dinner too. Pork ribs are a dish few people dislike, and it's great for chatting while grilling meat together over charcoal with a group. Most of all, the place itself is clean and the staff were kind, which I really appreciated.
