Why curly roots led me to Only For You in Jamsilsaenae

I have curly hair, so my roots get frizzy fast whenever my hair grows out even a little. My old straightened hair had grown a lot, and the curl coming in at the roots made everything look messy — add the frizz on top and it was getting hard to style.

So this time I visited Only For You Jamsilsaenae Branch, a Jamsil hair salon, to get careful care from roots to ends in one go. Off to meet senior designer Sehyun, known for meticulous work :)

Only For You, a Jamsil hair salon — root perm and clinic treatment

It's near the Sincheon restaurant alley, so it wasn't hard to find. It's open until 10pm on weekdays and Saturdays too, so it's easy for office workers to drop by after work haha. There's parking in the building, so I parked comfortably and headed inside.

I had an appointment today with senior designer Sehyun, the hush perm specialist :) So excited haha.

Only For You Jamsilsaenae Branch is a spacious salon of about 60 pyeong, so it never feels cramped — wide and comfortable overall. As soon as I sat down, Sehyun brought out a refreshing welcome drink and snacks :)

Eek… look at those grown-out roots 😂 You can feel my curl just from the photo, right? There's a pretty clear line between the previously straightened section and the newly grown curly roots. The overall frizzy, unkempt look really stood out ㅜㅜ

Milbon repair clinic first, before the root straightening

My hair was frizzy overall, but the ends in particular were quite dry and damaged. So instead of jumping straight into the perm, we decided to first load up the hair with nutrients through a clinic treatment!

After talking it over with Sehyun, we decided to go with the Milbon repair clinic. It wasn't applied just once before the treatment — nutrients were carefully worked in step by step, matching the hair's condition, throughout the perm process and again at the final stage. I was extra excited knowing I could tame the curl with the perm while also caring for the damaged hair at the same time 🩷

One of the biggest perks of Only For You, in my opinion, is that instead of just washing your hair the usual way, you get to lie back comfortably in a massage chair ♡ While your hair is being cared for, your body gets a massage too — two birds, one stone.

First, my hair was washed clean with a clinic shampoo, then a care product was applied according to the Milbon repair clinic step. After the product was applied generously, steam helped the nutrients absorb well while I got a massage in the chair. Between the warm steam and the massage, I relaxed so much I could feel myself drifting off to sleep... 💗

Root straightening that blends into the previous straight perm

After loading the hair with nutrients, we got straight into the root perm. Starting from the newly grown roots through the curly section, Sehyun carefully straightened everything section by section. She was especially careful to blend the new work with the previously straightened section so there'd be no visible line.

After the root perm was done, the remaining clinic steps were applied once more with steam, followed by another round of massage in the chair 💗 Getting hair care and a massage together really melted away all my built-up fatigue.

Once all the treatments were finished, the final care came from the Milbon repair products. First, a heat-protectant mist was sprayed to shield the hair from the blow dryer's heat, then a cream-type leave-in treatment and dry primer was applied for one more round of care on the damaged strands.

With protection and smoothness taken care of right to the end, she finished up with a blow-dry. 💗

Wow~~~ the roots that had grown out messy were now beautifully smooth and straight. On top of that, thanks to the Milbon repair clinic, the dry, frizzy ends turned calm and glossy!

With the root perm and clinic together, my hair came out looking clean and finished. ♡ It wasn't just a root perm and done — pairing it with a clinic treatment tailored to my hair's condition, step by step, meant I could worry less about damage too.
