Geuttaegeujip: 24-hour cauldron-lid pork belly in Uijeongbu Sinsigaji
Geuttaegeujip is a 24-hour barbecue restaurant that's quietly held down a spot in Uijeongbu Sinsigaji's entertainment alley for a long time. I hadn't been in a while, so I paid another visit to this longtime favorite among Uijeongbu Sinsigaji restaurants.
Every time I visit Geuttaegeujip, one of the top restaurants in Uijeongbu Sinsigaji, the meat quality and side dishes are consistently great, and being open 24 hours is a huge plus on top of that. Since it runs around the clock, the meal menus are also great for daytime eating and I'd recommend them, but this time I came specifically for cauldron-lid pork belly, which I hadn't had in a while!!

Where is Geuttaegeujip and where do you park?
Geuttaegeujip is a 1–2 minute walk from Exit 1 of Uijeongbu Station on the light rail, right in the middle of the Sinsigaji entertainment alley, so it's easy to find. That said, parking right by the store is tight, so it's better to use a nearby public parking lot.
I live nearby so I walked over, and since soju with pork belly is basically the golden rule, I was glad I could drink without worrying about getting home haha😆

Right at the entrance, the fresh meat aging fridge catches your eye😋👍
Geuttaegeujip's menu and what we ordered

Our order
- Pork belly x2
- Pork neck x1
- Soju x3

The place has a clean, tidy style. Right after sitting down, we ordered two servings of pork belly first!!!

The cauldron lid was so well oiled and maintained it was practically shiny.

Aged kimchi and the side dishes at Geuttaegeujip
At Geuttaegeujip, the two servings of pork belly and the kimchi came out first. The kimchi was properly aged, and it's a perfect match with pork belly😋 Mushrooms and onions came out to grill alongside, and doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) is included as standard!

A very wide variety of side dishes came out. Since this place is known for its meal menus too, every side dish was delicious!!
Side dishes: seaweed stem, broccoli, spicy radish salad, fish cake stir-fry, pickled radish, lettuce wraps, and chive-onion sauce to go with the meat

How the pork belly is grilled on the cauldron lid
Once the grill was heated just right, the meat went straight on. The pork belly had a great balance of fat and lean meat — a really good cut.

Pork belly obviously calls for soju~~

The grill cooks the meat fast, so it was ready in no time. That's a cauldron lid for you!!👍 The fat drains off well and the meat cooks nicely, so I really love cauldron-lid grills — cauldron-lid pork belly isn't that common, so I make a point of seeking it out.

We placed the kimchi on the side where the oil runs off. Kimchi gets tastier the longer it grills, so it's fine to take your time with it.

Pork belly grilled to a perfect golden brown!!

Eating it with the chive-onion sauce is the cleanest and tastiest way.

And wrapping a bite in fresh lettuce~

Eating along with the well-grilled kimchi, I naturally started craving rice. The kimchi was so good it went down easily, and rice was inevitable at that point haha. I always worry about weight gain, but the kimchi was so delicious I really wanted plain white rice😂

Adding pork neck: how it differs from the pork belly
The pork belly was so good that I felt a little regretful and added one serving of pork neck. The pork neck also had an excellent fat-to-meat ratio👏👏👏
It's a bit leaner than pork belly, so it feels less heavy haha. I would've regretted it if I hadn't added the extra serving!!😂

The kimchi really seems to be doing a lot of the heavy lifting here!! Both the meat quality and kimchi quality backed each other up, and it was all delicious.
Is Geuttaegeujip worth it? Final verdict
Whenever I visit Geuttaegeujip, the meat quality, kimchi flavor, and side dishes are all excellent every time. Add being open 24 hours on top of that, and it's basically perfect~ It's an old-school spot that goes great with drinks, so it's good for having a soju with cauldron-lid kimchi pork belly, and since the side dishes are also skillfully made, it's a great place to come for a regular meal too!!
If you're looking for a cauldron-lid kimchi pork belly restaurant in Uijeongbu Sinsigaji, Geuttaegeujip is the answer!!
