Suwon Italian restaurant with truffle egg pizza: The European Gwanggyo

Today, I’m sharing my visit to The European Gwanggyo, which I found while looking for a place with a nice atmosphere in Gwanggyo.

It seemed like a great place to visit for a date in Gwanggyo or on a day when you’re craving delicious Italian food, so I went to check it out myself haha.

A European-style Italian restaurant in Gwanggyo

The European-style atmosphere was apparent from the entrance, and it put me in a good mood even before the meal. The whole place felt clean yet warm, so I thought it would be lovely for a slightly special occasion, such as a date or anniversary meal, too haha.

Known as a good restaurant in Gwanggyo Cafe Street, this place serves authentic wood-fired pizza made by a chef with 10 years of experience, including at Seoul’s Shilla Hotel haha. They say the dough is fermented for 18 hours and aged for 24 hours, then baked at 485°C in a premium Stefano Ferrara wood-fired oven. I could see why it’s known for pizza that is crisp outside and chewy inside haha.

As a wood-fired pizza spot, there are lots of different pizzas to choose from haha. You can pick according to your taste, and I ordered the signature Jambon Truffle Funghi Pizza and the well-reviewed Jambon Truffle Funghi Pizza haha.

How was the Triple Cream Homemade Gnocchi?

Gnocchi has that lovely fluffy yet chewy texture unique to potato, and it was so delicious with the creamy sauce added in haha. They also make the sauce by blending several kinds of mushrooms haha.

Maybe that’s why the gnocchi sauce was so thick and had such a lovely mushroom aroma haha. With one bite, the chewy gnocchi and rich cream sauce came together so well!

The cream sauce had soaked nicely into the gnocchi, so eating the sauce and gnocchi together was especially delicious. If you usually like cream pasta or cream sauces, I totally recommend it haha.

More than anything, perhaps because it was homemade gnocchi, I kept reaching for the combination of soft cream sauce and chewy gnocchi.

Jambon Truffle Funghi Pizza topped with a poached egg

And the menu item I was looking forward to most that day! It was the signature Jambon Truffle Funghi Pizza. With its combination of jambon, truffle, and funghi (mushrooms), it was a pizza where you could really taste the aroma and flavor. I especially liked the delicate yet deep truffle scent when I took a bite.

The salty flavor of the jambon added savory depth to the mild pizza! The mushroom flavor joined in too, so every slice felt more richly flavored.

They place a poached egg in the middle of the wood-fired pizza. I thought it might not work together, you know? But what was this richness? It was sooo good. Dipping the pizza in that rich egg yolk is really unusual, but seriously delicious.

Personally, I prefer pizza where the flavors of several ingredients come together like this rather than a simple cheese pizza, so I enjoyed this one even more.

Recommended for a Gwanggyo Lake Park date meal

The food was delicious overall, but more than anything, I loved The European Gwanggyo for its atmosphere. It would be a great spot for a date or gathering when visiting Gwanggyo Cafe Street haha. If you’re looking for an atmospheric restaurant in Gwanggyo, a date spot, or Italian food, I think it’s worth visiting.

I especially totally recommend the Triple Cream Homemade Gnocchi and signature Jambon Truffle Funghi Pizza haha. The sauce and the wood-fired dough really are different! If you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy a great atmosphere in Gwanggyo, give The European Gwanggyo a visit.
