Songdo teppan restaurant with cod roe monjayaki and mini beer: Jojo

In short

Jojo Triple Street Branch is an Osaka-style teppan Japanese restaurant on the 1st floor of Building C, Triple Street in Songdo, Incheon. Cod roe monjayaki (savory griddle-cooked batter), yakisoba and the signature okonomiyaki were all cooked right on the tableside griddle and paired with a 200ml Suntory mini draft beer, and the monjayaki tasted much like the version eaten in Tokyo. If you are looking for monjayaki in Songdo, Jojo is the answer.

Jojo, a must-try restaurant in Songdo Triple Street

Signature photo of Jojo in Songdo Triple Street

I went to Tokyo this past spring and had the most delicious monjayaki there, and suddenly I got a craving for draft beer paired with monjayaki, haha. So I looked up where to get monjayaki in Songdo, Incheon, and it turns out Jojo in Triple Street serves not just monjayaki but okonomiyaki and yakisoba too!

Above all, Jojo sticks to traditional Osaka methods and cooks everything at high heat on a specially made large teppan (griddle), so it was really, really good. Let me give you my honest review and recommended menu items for the monjayaki, okonomiyaki, and yakisoba I had.

Jojo is a fairly spacious restaurant with a clean, pleasant atmosphere. Best of all, there's a specially made griddle built into each table, so you can eat everything hot right as it's cooked! Watching the food get cooked on the griddle is fun too, haha. Among the restaurants in Triple Street, if you're looking for a date spot that's great not just for the taste but for the atmosphere and the whole cooking experience, Jojo is perfect, haha.

Jojo's set menus organized by number of people

There are also various set menus made up of just the popular dishes, sized for different numbers of people, so if you're visiting with a group, it seems like a great way to pick according to everyone's taste!

Cod roe monjayaki: any difference from what I ate in Tokyo?

Among the many menu items, what we ordered was monjayaki, okonomiyaki, and yakisoba.

The one I was most looking forward to was the monjayaki. I ordered the umami-packed cod roe monjayaki, which comes with cod roe and mochi. Watching it get cooked right on the tableside griddle really made my mouth water, haha.

Using the little spoon they provide, you scrape up the well-cooked monjayaki, and the cheese inside stretches out in long strings. Eating it together with the chewy mochi gives it great texture, and it's not too seasoned, so it's mild and clean — a dish that would be great to share with kids too. Honestly, I couldn't tell much of a difference from the one I had at that waitlist-worthy spot in Tokyo, haha.

Eating monjayaki straight off the griddle

In Japan, after finishing the monjayaki, they cook the yakisoba on the same griddle afterward, which made the meal take a really long time and was kind of exhausting, lol. Jojo, though, cleverly cooked the yakisoba and okonomiyaki separately while we were eating the monjayaki and brought them to the table on plates.

Yakisoba and the signature okonomiyaki

The popular yakisoba is stir-fried quickly at high heat with a special sauce, and the umami is amazing! It's even better if you pop the fried egg yolk and mix it in, haha. There's meat in it too, so it was pretty filling.

And true to Jojo's signature dish being named okonomiyaki, this one is on a whole different level from the frozen kind. Since it sticks to the traditional Osaka style eaten as a proper meal in Japan, it has a really appealing soft, moist texture. It comes out already cooked from the kitchen but is served hot on the griddle, so it stayed warm to the very last bite.

A weekday drink with a 200ml Suntory mini draft beer

On top of everything, they sell Suntory draft beer in the restaurant, and it pairs so well with the food that I'd recommend having a glass, haha. Besides the regular Suntory Malt's, they also have a one-bite-sized (?) 200ml Suntory mini, so it was great for a light drink with weekday lunch, haha. Daytime drinking is the best~

Who would enjoy Jojo?

Closing photo from Jojo Triple Street Branch

A restaurant in Triple Street that's easy to visit whether you're driving or taking public transportation. If you're tired of the usual Korean BBQ places, how about trying something different like monjayaki or okonomiyaki? Jojo made me feel like I'd stepped into Japan.

For anyone looking for a good restaurant near Songdo Hyundai Premium Outlets or somewhere to stop by in Triple Street, Jojo's okonomiyaki has an exotic, distinctive Japanese vibe worth trying. Since places serving monjayaki in Songdo are hard to find, the monjayaki was the dish that stuck with me the most! Because it's cooked right on the griddle, you can enjoy it piping hot until the very end, making it an even better drinking snack. Instead of Japan (?), I'll have to come back again soon and enjoy some more delicious teppan dishes!
