Chewy teuk-yang at Chodaechang, a Korean BBQ offal spot in Dangsan

In short

Chodaechang Dangsan Station is a charcoal-grilled beef offal restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Olive Young building by Exit 11 of Dangsan Station in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. The order was daechang (large intestine) 1, teuk-yang (beef stomach lining) 1, makchang (small intestine) 1 and doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice), with staff grilling everything at the table; the teuk-yang was chewy with no gamy smell, and the breadcrumb-coated corn mayo side dish went straight to beer. A solid pick for anyone near Dangsan Station looking for teuk-yang done well.

At Chodaechang Dangsan Station you can order daechang, makchang, teuk-yang, and yeomtong (heart) as an assorted set or individually!! I ordered daechang 1, teuk-yang 1, and makchang 1!!

For sides they also sell ramyeon, doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice), yang bokkeumbap (stir-fried stomach rice), kimchi mari guksu (noodles), and more!!

Side menu items: ramyeon, doenjang sulbap, kimchi mari guksu

They say if you write a review you get free kimchi mari guksu, so definitely do that!!! And the draft beer is super cold and smooth, highly recommend haha

Wet wipes and utensils are disposable at every table, so no hygiene worries~

Charcoal grilling and the corn mayo side dish

What makes Chodaechang Dangsan an especially good beef intestines spot among Dangsan Station restaurants isn't gas — it's that you grill over charcoal!!

Charcoal grill set up at the table

The side dishes are all things that pair well with meat — pickles, a special sauce, geotjeori (fresh kimchi), and more!!

But especially before the meat comes out, there's this corn mayo side dish coated in breadcrumbs, and it's so good I ordered a beer right away lolllll

Daechang 1, teuk-yang 1, makchang 1. The visuals are insane~~~ ugh, they're lightly seasoned which makes it even tastier!!! (Next time I'll try the spicy version)

Staff grill everything for you, starting with the heart

At Chodaechang Dangsan Station, staff grill everything for you in order, starting with yeomtong (heart). What's the basic rule of offal? Heart first!! They started with the heart!! Since staff grill everything, it's so convenient!!! I never have to worry about burning the meat

Heart grilled first over charcoal

Once the heart is cooked, dipping it in the special sauce with chili in it just calls for drinks, calls for them. Obviously no gamy smell at all!! Savory, and with that seasoning it even has extra umami~~

Doesn't the draft beer look so refreshing!?! It just goes down smoothly~~

A cold glass of draft beer

The kkwari-gochu (shishito-style peppers) had just the right amount of spice, a nice treat that went great alongside everything~~ And the pairing with the pickles, no need to even say~~~

How was the teuk-yang at Chodaechang?

The teuk-yang at Chodaechang Dangsan Station had no gamy smell and kept its chewy texture alive. While we were eating the heart, staff came back and finished grilling the daechang and teuk-yang too~

Staff grilling daechang and teuk-yang

The plump daechang, doesn't it look ridiculously good?!!! I'm literally drooling while writing this post ㅠㅠ Staff grill it all and set it at the edge for you, so all you have to do is enjoy it.

The teuk-yang also had no gamy smell of course~!! It was so chewy, the texture was insane, seriously!!! I eat a lot of daechang, makchang, gopchang, but it's not easy to find a place that's good at teuk-yang~~ But Chodaechang Dangsan!! They're good, really good

Finishing with doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice)

Koreans can't skip out on carbs~ Order the doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice) too and two people will be completely stuffed

Doenjang sulbap ordered to finish the meal

The doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) is boiled really thick too, packed with ingredients, perfect as a drinking snack too!!

Thick doenjang jjigae packed with ingredients

You can tell at a glance the rice grains are properly coated in the doenjang broth right?!! The seasoning is perfect

The daechang was so full and delicious that I only ended up with this one photo of it lollllllllll everything was delicious but daechang really is number one!!!!! The light seasoning even cuts the greasiness so it never feels heavy!!

Empty plates with even the side dishes gone

With empty plates down to the last side dish, that pretty much proves Chodaechang Dangsan Station is a genuine Dangsan Station favorite lolllllllll
