Today I'm sharing a place I got a great chance to visit while making dinner plans with a friend! It's a Chinese restaurant near Gangnam Station called Namsogwan 南小馆 🥟🍜
If you're looking for Gangnam restaurants, Gangnam Station restaurants, or Yeoksam-dong Chinese food, write this one down right now!! It's been getting real buzz lately for its beef dosakmyeon (knife-cut noodles) and dim sum ٩(^‿^)۶
Where is Namsogwan near Gangnam Station, and is there parking?
Namsogwan U Yuk Dosakmyeon is at 19 Teheran-ro 1-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, within walking distance of Gangnam Station. Parking isn't really available so public transit is your best bet 🚘
🕖 Hours can vary depending on the day, so I'd recommend calling ahead before you visit
What the Namsogwan storefront and dining room are like
Maybe because we went in the evening, the sign lighting was shining so beautifully ✨ The 南小馆 Chinese characters alongside the English "Namsogwan" logo gave it a real authentic Chinese restaurant vibe.
Right when you walk in there's an open dim sum steamer station where you can actually watch the chef making dumplings by hand — that gave me a lot of confidence 👀 There's a first floor and a second floor, a pretty spacious place with plenty of group tables, and even on a weekday evening it was packed.
You have to climb stairs to get to the second floor, so it might get a bit crowded there when there's a wait haha
Inside, there are Chinese-style decorations and antique-looking cabinets scattered around, so it's fun just to look around too. Red neon signs, checkered tile accents — you can tell every detail of the interior was thought through 🧧

At Namsogwan U Yuk Dosakmyeon you self-order through a tablet. It's organized into categories — noodles, dim sum, and rice dishes — each with photos, so even people unfamiliar with Chinese menu items shouldn't have trouble choosing.

How does the food at Namsogwan taste?
First, the basic side dishes come simply as these two!
Beef knife-cut noodles with pickled cabbage 酸菜牛肉面 (11,000 won)
Starting with the basic beef dosakmyeon (knife-cut noodles)! The thick dosakmyeon has that distinctive rustic yet chewy texture that's clearly different from other noodle dishes.
It's based on tangy suan cai (pickled cabbage), so the broth is rich but goes down clean. The beef chunks are generous too, giving it a satisfying chew.
Sichuan-style beef knife-cut noodles 香辣牛肉面 (11,000 won)
Same noodle, but this is the spicy Sichuan-style version! From the first bite the spice aroma hits you right away and a sharp heat spreads through your mouth. If you like spicy food, this version comes highly recommended, but if you can't handle spice, the sour cabbage version above would be more manageable haha
Guobaorou, sweet-and-sour fried pork 鍋包肉 (19,000 won)
Personally my favorite dish of the whole meal!! The outside stays crispy with the batter holding up, and when you bite in—
the inside is moist with the juices still intact. The sweet and tangy sauce clings to the batter like a coating, so it's not greasy at all — the kind of flavor that keeps you reaching for more 🤤
Fried eggplant 風味茄子 (15,000 won)
Even if you're not usually an eggplant person, give this dish a try! The eggplant is fried whole and tossed in a sweet-spicy sauce, and just the look of it with black sesame sprinkled on top got my mouth watering.
Instead of the mushy texture eggplant usually has, the batter keeps it chewy, so even people who aren't sure about eggplant should be able to enjoy it without worry.
Is Namsogwan worth it for a Gangnam group dinner?
