Solo dining by Misa Lake Park, Hanam: eggplant tempura rice bowl at
In short
Roi Sikdang Hanam Misa Main Branch is a Japanese restaurant on the ground floor of a villa building right beside the Misa Lake Park walking path in Hanam, Gyeonggi. Eating solo by the window, the writer tried the eggplant tempura meat rice bowl and a side of mini tempura, finding the spicy Roi sauce savory rather than salty and a great match for the crunchy tempura. A tidy, cozy spot that works well for solo diners, families, small groups, and dates alike.

The weather's been really nice lately! As long as you dodge the direct sun, it's perfect for walking. I went for a walk around Misa Lake Park for the first time in a while, and then had dinner solo at [Roi Sikdang], a Hanam restaurant known for its rice bowls. It's a clean, cozy Japanese restaurant. Let's get into the review.
Location and basic info for Roi Sikdang Hanam Misa Main Branch

[Roi Sikdang Hanam Misa Main Branch], a recommended Hanam restaurant for rice bowls, was close to Misa Lake Park and Misa Library — right next to the lake park's walking path. Being so close to the park makes it a great spot to visit after a morning walk, for lunch, or on a date. Since it's a restaurant on the ground floor of a villa building, there's no big signboard, and with cars parked out front the entrance isn't very visible — but if you look between the trees and the sign, you'll find it.

What was the atmosphere like?

The place was small and cozy. The interior was wood-toned overall, and the green scenery outside the windows was really pretty! It had a vibe good for brunch. I imagine it feels even warmer in the evening.

Eggplant tempura meat rice bowl, single order

This is a rice bowl eaten with crispy eggplant tempura and lotus root tempura, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, and fluffy rice topped with Roi sauce made from spicy ground pork. The visual alone was so appetizing!!! It looked like it could bring back even a lost appetite.

The batter on the eggplant was thin and crispy, while the inside was soft and fluffy — that texture combo was really great!! The single-dish order comes with miso soup, pickled radish, and kkakdugi (radish kimchi).

You mix the Roi sauce well into the rice, then eat it together with all the various tempura — so it felt similar to Japanese tendon.

The savory spicy sauce made with ground pork — in photos the deep color makes it look like it'll be really salty, but in reality it wasn't very salty at all, just clean and savory! There was a lot of onion in it too, which gave it a nice sweetness!!! It went beautifully with the fluffy eggplant tempura.
The mini tempura side dish

A nice mini tempura side to go along with the meal. It came with 1 piece of crab, 2 shrimp, 3 pieces of karaage, and french fries. Since it's fried fresh right after ordering, it was nice and crispy. It went well with the savory mayo-based sauce!! And well, tempura is tempura — of course it's delicious!!! No question about it.
Is it good for solo dining?

The owner was also very kind, and it was a delicious spot with a clean, tidy look. It was fine for solo dining, and I think it'd also be great for family gatherings, small get-togethers, or dates. If you like Hanam restaurants for rice bowls, I'd recommend [Roi Sikdang]!!
