Dog-friendly gelato café in Hanam Misa: basil milk at Damgeum Gelato
In short
Damgeum Gelato Misa Branch is a handmade Italian-style gelato café in the Monolounge building on Misagangbyeonhangang-ro in Hanam, Gyeonggi. Sitting at the outdoor seats with a dog, a 7,000-won single cup of basil milk + Jeju lemon and another of Seongju Korean melon + pure milk tasted clean and true to the ingredients, with none of the artificial sweetness. Damgeum Gelato is worth a stop for anyone who finds heavily sweet desserts too much.

I hadn't been out to Hanam Misa in a while, so I finally visited a gelato shop I'd had bookmarked for ages.
What kind of café is Damgeum Gelato Misa Branch?
Damgeum Gelato Misa Branch (담금젤라또 미사점) is a handmade gelato dessert café at 290-3 Misagangbyeonhangang-ro, Monolounge 128, Hanam, Gyeonggi, 443 meters from Misa Station Exit 5. Even the exterior feels like a dessert shop you'd find in a small European village, doesn't it? 😁

Today I brought Jordan along...🐕
Inside Damgeum Gelato: a calm, easy-going space
Inside, wood furniture, classic-design chairs, and tile flooring all come together beautifully, giving off a strong old European café vibe~🤩 The interior is completely my style too..

The owner apparently lived in Italy for 12 years and completed a professional course at an Italian gelato university, training as a gelatiere. Using the traditional methods learned there, they make gelato by cooking and steeping natural ingredients, with no chemical additives or artificial bases!!

Official Italian government gelato certification
This is the certificate issued by the Italian government!! It's an official certificate of authenticity granted by the Federation of Italian Chambers of Commerce and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Korea to shops that strictly meet authentic Italian production methods and quality standards.. When I read about this online, I really wanted to come and see it for myself.
Damgeum Gelato Misa Branch menu and prices
The signature gelato menu is two basic flavors for ₩7,000, with some flavors carrying an extra charge! There are also coffee items like espresso, latte, and Americano, plus homemade mulled wine.. and desserts like tiramisu are sold too. I also spotted Chuseok cookies for the upcoming holiday.

🍨🍨🍨 Seongju melon, Venezuelan single-origin dark chocolate, Jeju baby corn, Bronte pistachio, Jeju lemon, Gyeongsan white peach, Andong white pearl rice, basil milk, black label orange, slow-village makgeolli (rice wine), pure milk, stracciatella 😋 Even the flavor lineup alone is extraordinary.😁
Basil milk + Jeju lemon and Seongju melon + pure milk, 7,000 won a cup
The combination I chose at Damgeum Gelato Misa Branch was basil milk + Jeju lemon, and Seongju melon + pure milk. Two flavors in one ₩7,000 cup, so I agonized over the choice~😁

Oh my~~~ The texture alone is different~ These days when I go to gelato shops, it's either overly sweet or oddly chewy.. making me wonder if it's really gelato.. but this one had absolutely no artificial taste, just the clean flavor of the raw ingredients~😃

Can you bring a dog to Damgeum Gelato Misa Branch?
Damgeum Gelato Misa Branch has outdoor seating where you can be with your pet. That day too, I sat with Jordan and ate gelato, and that was really nice~😄

How the gelato tasted: honest verdict

After finishing the gelato at Damgeum Gelato Misa Branch, what stuck with me most was that it left no heaviness or stickiness in my mouth — everything finished clean. The sorbet types kept the fruit's own freshness alive, and the milk-based ones were mild and nutty, which I loved.

Since it's handmade with no chemical additives or preservatives at all, it seems like a good choice for people who find intense desserts a bit much, or for kids too.

It's a great spot to relax quietly in an open space while enjoying authentic Italian-style gelato, so next time I'm in Hanam Misa, I'd like to come back again~
