Suwon Korean BBQ restaurant with a dry-ice beef platter: Sogogi Twist
In short
Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch is a Korean barbecue restaurant near Yeongtong District Office in Suwon, Gyeonggi. After reserving an entry time, I tried a mixed beef platter with kkotsaeus al, salchisal, and jebi churi, plus stew and naengmyeon. Verdict: a great pick for a visually memorable platter with a variety of beef cuts.

I’d like to introduce Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch, which I visited while looking for somewhere to eat beef near Yeongtong District Office!

Beef near Yeongtong District Office: why I reserved ahead
I heard it has been busy lately, so rather than just showing up, I reserved an entry time in advance.

There were so many guests that I was really glad I had reserved~ There were people waiting while I ate too, so I recommend booking before you visit!

With meat grilling at every table, the restaurant had such a lively atmosphere, and all kinds of guests were dining there, from families out for a meal to groups of friends.

Mixed beef platter and side dishes
There are 500 g and 1 kg beef options, along with several kinds of pork!
There was shredded scallion salad, pickled onions, and all sorts of kimchi too!! I loved that there were so many sides to cut through the richness of the beef~

They were great to have alongside the meat throughout the meal. The onions were delicious, the scallion salad was delicious~ I even got a refill of the scallion salad!

A mixed beef platter served with a dry-ice display
The mixed beef platter I ordered arrived. The very first thing that caught my eye as soon as it came out was, of course, the presentation!
The plate was generously piled with beef, and dry-ice smoke billowed up from underneath, making it look much more spectacular than a regular plate of meat.
Seeing the clear red color of the beef through the smoke made me reach for my camera first. From the moment the meat landed on the table, it felt like I was being properly treated, too.

The mixed platter included several cuts, such as kkotsaeus al (flower shrimp cut), salchisal (chuck flap), and jebi churi (neck chain), so instead of eating only one cut, I could sample a nice range of different beef.

The best thing about a mixed beef platter is definitely getting to enjoy different cuts all at once.

The fun of choosing cuts to grill
Each piece looked a little different, so it was fun deciding which cut to grill first!

Even on one plate, the ratio of fat to lean meat looked different from cut to cut, so it was fun comparing them as I ate.

With beef, it is more fun to grill small amounts at a time and eat it right away rather than leaving it on the grill for too long, isn’t it? Once one side was deliciously seared, I flipped it to cook the other side, then tried the pieces one by one as they reached the right doneness.

After eating a fair amount of meat, I put on another cut and grilled that too!
Even though it was all beef, changing cuts meant I could keep enjoying a variety of flavors until the end instead of eating just one kind the whole time.

Stew and naengmyeon after the beef
Even though I had been sitting in front of a hot grill while eating the meat, somehow I still craved a warm broth at the end of the meal. Haha. I ordered stew too, and it was delicious~

After grilling and eating beef for a while, there was one menu item that naturally came to mind. Naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles)!

It felt like I had to have naengmyeon after the meat, so I ended up ordering more. Haha. After all that beef, the cool naengmyeon was such a welcome sight!!!

You can save a piece of beef to eat with the naengmyeon, or enjoy it as a clean finish after the meat—it is a combination that works really well.

The dry-ice smoke presentation when the beef arrived really stayed with me. It was great for photos, and since I could enjoy several cuts of beef at once, I definitely recommend the mixed platter if you love beef!!!
