I'd been craving thick-cut meat for a while, so I went to Muttuk, a BBQ restaurant near Sookdae Station. The staff grill the meat for you, so it's super easy to just sit back and eat, and since corkage is free, it's great for bringing along whatever drink you like. If you're looking for good-quality, thick-cut meat near Sookdae Station, I'd recommend this place :-)
Muttuk Sookdae Main Branch location and parking

Muttuk is tucked into an alley a 3-minute walk from Exit 10 of Sookdae Station. You can also park at the Cheongpa-dong Public Parking Lot, and the price isn't bad at all — the first 30 minutes are ₩900 (+₩1,800 per additional hour, max ₩7,200).
Inside — folding doors open give it a patio feel

The interior is spacious and bright. With seating ranging from 2-person to 4-person to 8-person tables, it works well for a date or a bigger group.

There's also a separated space inside — not quite a private room, but a spot where you can eat a bit more quietly.

The windows are full floor-to-ceiling folding doors, so it never felt cramped. The weather's been nice lately so they had them wide open — it gave off a terrace vibe and the ventilation was great too!
Menu and prices

Muttuk serves both pork and beef, and set menus come with doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew). The matcha ribs — ribs aged in matcha — are a unique dish you can only find here 🙌 The side dishes range from yukhoe (beef tartare) and pork skin to fried rice, naengmyeon (cold noodles), and noodle soup, so there was a wide range of choices, which I liked!

Side dishes and sauces

The basic side dishes were kimchi, scallion salad, pickled onion, fresh vegetables, wild garlic greens, and corn salad. The sauces ranged from basic salt, wasabi, and ssamjang to squid jeotgal (salted fermented squid), garlic sauce, and a minari (water celery) soy sauce, plus roasted gim (seaweed). With so many combinations to try, there was never a dull moment with the meat!

Muttuk Korean Pork Assorted Set, 600g for ₩69,800
📌 Muttuk Korean Pork Assorted Set, ₩69,800 (600g). This set includes pork neck, pork belly, and whole skirt meat. The cuts were incredibly thick and had a great color. It came with mushrooms, potato, onion, and chili peppers to grill alongside.

At Muttuk, the staff grill the meat from start to finish, so eating was so easy. They grilled the thick pork neck and belly first!
They seared the outside crispy first, then cut it up — the meat was so fresh that the color looked amazing once sliced.

The subtle charcoal aroma soaked into the meat, and the first bite had me gasping in delight 😖 Crisp on the outside, tender inside, with the juices bursting in my mouth.

Free corkage and complimentary wine from the review event
If you take part in the review event, you get a free ramen or wine — we each chose a glass of red wine to go with the meat. The meat was clean and juicy, and it paired surprisingly well with the wine. Since corkage is free, bringing your own bottle would be a great move too! 🙌

Trying the different sauce combinations
The table had instructions on how to best enjoy the meat with each sauce, so we tried them exactly as suggested — each sauce had its own distinct charm, and it was fun mixing things up.

Roasting gim over the charcoal and wrapping it around meat and squid jeotgal added the nuttiness of the gim and the saltiness of the jeotgal, boosting the savory depth even more.
Dipping into the sharp-yet-sweet garlic sauce was also a treat, and Muttuk's signature minari soy sauce — with its subtle, fragrant minari aroma — cut right through the meat's richness. Great pairing.

The pork belly was thick too, with just the right ratio of lean meat to fat, so it was tender and supple without any toughness at all ✨

Ending with whole skirt meat and doenjang jjigae
They finished by grilling the whole skirt meat (galmaegisal). I'd only ever had it pre-sliced before, but cutting it thick after grilling made it feel even juicier!
It had a bit of that heart-like texture with a faint bloody note, and the distinct meaty aroma unique to skirt meat came through nicely — delicious.
The doenjang jjigae that comes with the assorted set was packed with vegetables and tofu — really hearty. Between the two of us finishing 600g of meat, the stew, and rice, we were completely full ☺️

There were disposable mouthwash and deodorizer by the counter, so we could leave feeling fresh after the meal :-)
