Busan offal restaurant for outdoor drinks: Bupyeong Yang Gopchang
In short
Bupyeong Yang Gopchang is a grilled beef offal restaurant in Jung-gu, Busan. We shared a 700g large salt-grilled platter with daechang, tripe, and heart, plus Cheongha, steamed egg, and cold noodles. Verdict: the clean-tasting, odor-free salt grill was a great pick for drinks with friends.

It had been ages since my friends and I had properly gone out in Nampo-dong 🤍 We had sashimi in Jagalchi, then wandered slowly around the Kkangtong Market area before starting girls’ night!
Bupyeong Yang Gopchang caught my eye in a Kkangtong Market alley
When you think of Nampo-dong and Bupyeong-dong, you simply can’t walk past the grilled tripe-and-offal alley, right? haha As we walked through, one place stood out: it was especially packed, with people eating grilled offal outside in that outdoor-street-dining atmosphere. That’s how we ended up at Bupyeong Yang Gopchang.
The busiest spot in the Kkangtong Market alley

There are so many grilled tripe-and-offal places with similar vibes as you walk through Bupyeong-dong’s alley. We hadn’t picked anywhere in advance; we just naturally walked into Bupyeong Yang Gopchang because it looked like it had the most people.

Maybe because it was dinner time, the whole place was bustling, from the interior to the outdoor seats, and there seemed to be so many staff too. It honestly felt like there were nearly 20 people working, haha. Even with all those customers, they kept looking after tables quickly, which was great.
Just the right outdoor-street-dining mood for this weather
What I especially loved was the atmosphere of being able to grill the offal outside. These days, when it’s neither too hot nor humid, sitting on red chairs outdoors, grilling offal over the tabletop grill, and having a shot of soju really makes you feel like you’re properly on a Busan trip… 🤍
It didn’t feel like a staged outdoor-dining vibe at all—the alley’s own mood plus the sound of everyone chatting made it feel so Busan. If you’re looking for grilled offal with drinks in Nampo-dong, I recommend enjoying the atmosphere along with the food.

Outdoor seating, group tables, and old autographs
Once we went inside, the restaurant was bigger than I expected, with plenty of seats that would be great for groups. And when I looked around the walls, there were so many celebrity autographs too..!

It wasn’t just one or two—there were signatures everywhere, which really made it feel like a Nampo-dong offal restaurant that has been loved for 30 years. You can enjoy the outdoor-street-dining vibe outside or eat more comfortably indoors, so it seems easy to choose a seat depending on the weather or group size.
Salt grill, stone-pan seasoning, and tripe hot pot
Bupyeong Yang Gopchang’s signature menu is broadly divided into three options: salt grill, stone-pan seasoned grill, and tripe-and-daechang hot pot. Choose the salt grill if you want something clean-tasting; choose the stone-pan version if you want to fully enjoy spicy red seasoning with extra noodles and fried rice; and go for the hot pot when you’re craving something warm and brothy.

There was also a nice variety of banchan (Korean side dishes) to pair with the salt grill, including pickled onions, sesame oil dipping sauce, garlic, and chili peppers, so it was easy to eat it however we liked.

Large garlic-seasoned salt-grilled platter
We ordered the large salt-grilled platter. It comes with daechang (beef large intestine), yang (tripe), and yeomtong (beef heart), and the large size is 700g before cooking. One friend can’t eat seasoned food, so we picked the salt grill without hesitation that day. In the end, it was such a good choice 🥹🫰🏻
A clean-tasting salt grill with a touch of garlic seasoning
It’s called a salt grill, but they cooked it with a light garlic seasoning, so this savory aroma came through. The things I worry about most when eating tripe and offal are that distinctive smell and overly strong seasoning.

But Bupyeong Yang Gopchang’s salt grill had almost no off smell at all, and it wasn’t too salty—just perfect.

It isn’t about eating it for an intense sauce flavor; it’s the kind of dish where you can really taste the individual textures of the daechang, tripe, and heart! That actually made it easy to keep eating without feeling weighed down.
The fun of choosing between daechang, tripe, and heart

Since several cuts were grilled together on one plate, it was fun to alternate between them. I went for daechang when I wanted something rich, tripe when I wanted a chewy texture, and heart when I wanted something a little lighter. Even though it was one menu item, I didn’t get tired of it as quickly as I expected.
Best of all, the staff let us know as each piece of offal was perfectly cooked, so we could eat everything at its best.

You can’t eat something like this without ordering drinks, haha.

Having a piece of hot grilled offal followed by a cold glass of Cheongha made all the fatigue from walking around all day just melt away.

It was so nice to eat good food, chat slowly, and have a drink with friends. So I think it would suit not only people looking for great grilled offal in Nampo-dong, but also anyone looking for a relaxed Nampo-dong spot to have drinks 🫧

Finishing with steamed egg and cold noodles
Offal alone felt a little incomplete, so we ordered steamed egg too. It was visibly soft, fluffy, and puffed up! 🤍 Taking a spoonful of hot steamed egg and then a bite of salt-grilled offal was such a good combination. It was especially nice to refresh my mouth with the soft steamed egg after rich pieces like daechang, so I was glad we ordered it as a side.
This salt-grilled platter was generous and delicious, so I’ve already decided what I’ll order next time: stone-pan seasoned grill with extra bunmoja (thick starch noodles), followed by fried rice to finish 🩷 I enjoyed the salt grill for its clean flavor this time, so next time I’m going to try the complete opposite—a spicy seasoned version 🤍
Cold noodles to finish

After eating a fair amount of the salt grill, we ordered one mul naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles in chilled broth) for a simple finish.

After meat, you somehow always crave refreshing cold noodles, haha. Cleansing my palate with cold mul naengmyeon after the grilled offal was the perfect way to finish! If you’re already fairly full, it might be better to order one and share it rather than getting several 😉

We chose the salt grill because one friend can’t eat seasoned food, but it was clean-tasting with no off smell and just the right amount of seasoning, so we ended up enjoying it so much 🤍

Next time, I’m absolutely going back for the stone-pan seasoned grill with extra bunmoja and fried rice, haha.
