Suwon restaurant for jambon truffle pizza: The European Gwanggyo
In short
The European Gwanggyo is a wood-fired pizza restaurant in Suwon, Gyeonggi. I tried the jambon truffle funghi pizza with a soft egg and the clean-tasting charcuterie oil casarecce, and looked around its spacious seating and private rooms. The European Gwanggyo is a lovely pick for a date or group meal.

Wood-fired pizza at The European Gwanggyo
The weather was sooo nice.

I’ve been really into wood-fired pizza lately..! My partner says they don’t want pizza anymore, haha (have we had it too often..? haha). It’s hard to find somewhere with both atmosphere and great food, and so many places are cramped these days. This is a Gwanggyo spot worth considering when you’re choosing somewhere for a special day or an atmospheric get-together! Food, ambience, and convenience—it’s not bad at all~~
An interior decorated with chandeliers and frames

The moment I opened the door and entered The European Gwanggyo, this glamorous, upscale chandelier interior immediately caught my eye. It seems to have been designed with the feel of an old European restaurant.

We headed up to the second floor along these wonderfully decorated stairs, with frames, mirrors, and chandeliers. The frames look as if they’ve been hung at random, but somehow it all works together. It was fun looking at each one as we went up. I even briefly wondered whether I should decorate one of my room walls like that.

Up on the second floor, tables are set beside the main chandelier and staircase, with window views. The atmosphere and food are both lovely, so it looked like lots of couples stop by before taking a walk around Gwanggyo Lake~!

The restaurant is split across the first and second floors, so it is quite spacious. There is a private room for a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 8 people, as well as group seating for 10 to 36 people. It seems large enough for family gatherings, banquets, and even first-birthday parties!
Wood-fired pizza and a varied menu

There were more choices than the menu shown on Naver Place. Two kinds of salad, basil cream conchiglie with burrata, arancini, steak, and more. The European is a restaurant specializing in authentic wood-fired pizza.
Even the dough and baking process behind the pizza are different. That is one of The European’s special points. They say they select and use only oak wood to add flavor while baking, along with dough fermented for 18 hours and aged for 24 hours, for a chewy texture and deep flavor. Baked in a premium Stefano Ferrara wood-fired oven at a blazing 485°C, the dough is said to come out crisp outside and moist within for the best texture.
Signature jambon truffle funghi pizza and casarecce
The dishes we personally tried at The European Gwanggyo that day were the signature jambon truffle funghi pizza and charcuterie oil casarecce.

Signature jambon truffle funghi pizza
The instant it arrived at the table, the rich, nutty truffle aroma was absolutely bewitching. Salty jambon and generous mushroom flavor make a perfect match on top of the chewy, crunchy dough fresh from the wood-fired oven. In the middle is a soft-poached egg. I thought it was burrata cheese! Gently break it and eat it with the dough, and nutty richness fills your mouth. Good.

Charcuterie oil casarecce
This oil pasta has curly casarecce short pasta topped generously with fresh charcuterie ham. The savory oil sauce coats every piece of pasta well, making it fun to chew.

Although it is oil-based, it was not greasy at all. The salty charcuterie comes together with the refreshing pickles and large olives for a clean finish. It was the perfect supporting player alongside the pizza~~! The seasoning is not strong, so at first I was like, “What is this flavor~?!”—but I kept reaching for it; it was so addictive. I remember really enjoying how the subtle aroma and flavor worked with the pasta’s texture.
Parking, reservations, and group-visit tips
Parking and conveniences: Free parking is available, making it easy to come by car. The men’s and women’s restrooms are separate, and facilities including high chairs and wireless internet (Wi-Fi) are well provided.
Reservations and takeaway/delivery: Reservations are available, so I recommend booking ahead on weekends or during peak hours. Takeaway and delivery are available too.
Corkage: A paid corkage service is available, so you can bring a favorite wine and enjoy a fine meal amid the exotic setting.
At The European Gwanggyo, you can enjoy carefully made premium wood-fired pizza and pasta amid upscale interiors with a European feel. It is a Gwanggyo restaurant that is just as suited to a date as it is to a group gathering or anniversary with people dear to you. If you want chewy dough and deeply flavored food, definitely pay it a visit! 👍
