Eyebrow grooming in Seocho, Seoul: thin brows at Minjei Makeup

My eyebrows had long been a concern: they were dark, coarse, and shaped like seagull wings. I had tried dyeing and waxing them and visited several brow bars, but never settled on one. This time, I visited Minjei Makeup Eyebrow Grooming, Gangnam Seocho Branch (민제이메이크업 눈썹정리 강남서초점), where I could get both an eyebrow consultation and grooming.

How do you get there from Gangnam Station, and is parking available?

The studio is in B1, Unit 107 of Acrotel Gangnam Station, 34 Hyoryeong-ro 77-gil, Seocho-gu, Seoul. The hours posted at the time of my visit were 10 a.m.–7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 10 a.m.–9 p.m. Friday through Sunday; it was regularly closed on Mondays.

It is about a six-minute walk from Exit 5 of Gangnam Station on the Shinbundang Line. If you drive, parking is available in the building, with 70 minutes of free parking listed.

After going down to B1, I could easily find it because of the red sign directly in front of the entrance. There was a waiting area and a coat rack inside, so I could sit comfortably while waiting.

What did I receive on my first visit, and how much did it cost?

On my first visit, I had three services: eyebrow grooming, brow makeup, and a detailed consultation. Together, they came to ₩60,000.

Having learned the consultation and makeup method this time, I thought that next time I could just get the ₩30,000 eyebrow grooming service.

What tools are used for eyebrow grooming?

Awards were displayed inside the studio. The practitioner was introduced as a makeup artist with 18 years of experience.

The treatment area was neatly organized. The practitioner explained that they designed eyebrows with a razor and scissors rather than tweezers, and that brow razors were not reused.

How did we discuss my asymmetrical brows and preferred thickness?

Before visiting, I had not had my brows groomed for about five months. I did not tidy them up beforehand for the consultation, so the asymmetry and uneven hairs on both sides were fully visible.

First, they looked at my current brows and asked about the thickness and style I preferred. I discussed having had tweezers used on my brows before, as well as areas where some hairs did not grow. The practitioner explained that these were factors in not using tweezers. We decided to shape them for my face within what was possible.

I like thin brows, so they groomed them to suit that preference. Once the fine hairs were cleaned up, they felt neater than before.

What did I learn during the brow makeup?

After the grooming, I received brow makeup. They explained in detail where to set the brow arch and which areas to fill in, so I could follow the method on my own.

The brows looked natural after the makeup was finished. I was satisfied because my expression seemed more softly defined than with my original brows, and I took a few selfies right after.

I was told that first-time customers receive a new brow razor. It had been difficult for me to judge a shape that suited me on my own, so it was helpful to have my brows shaped to my preference and to learn the guidelines for drawing them. I thought a consultation like this could also be useful when I want to tidy my brows before an important occasion.
