Seoul Forest café with ₩3,500 matcha latte and soft serve: Mellows

The weather's been so nice lately that I've been trying to walk in parks or anywhere with pretty scenery, so today I came out to Seoul Forest. I was thinking of just grabbing an iced americano to go, but it got a bit hot in the afternoon and I started craving ice cream. That's how I found the café Mellows!! I came here after seeing a review of their ice cream haha

I ordered a whole variety to try — iced americano, matcha latte, and strawberry and peach soft serve. I'll introduce it here since it's a great spot to enjoy coffee and dessert together.

Where is Mellows, the café near Seoul Forest?

Mellows is a great café to stop at while exploring around Seoul Forest and Seongsu. There are so many distinctive cafés in Seongsu these days that it's hard to decide where to go, but Mellows was a good choice since it has ice cream on the menu as well as coffee, perfect for when I'm craving dessert.

It was especially nice as a place to rest for a bit after walking around Seoul Forest or exploring Seongsu. If you want to drink a cup of coffee and also have something sweet, there's a decent range of menu options to choose from.

How are the 2,500-won americano and 3,500-won matcha latte at Mellows?

Mellows' iced americano is 2500 won and the matcha latte is 3500 won. The iced americano was a solid, no-fuss choice for when I wanted a clean coffee taste. Since I was planning to eat sweet desserts alongside it, pairing it with the americano was great for cutting through the sweetness in between bites. The beans were nutty and tasty too.

I also ordered the matcha latte together with it. If you like that distinct matcha flavor, it's a great pairing with dessert. I also ordered soft serve, so alternating between the coffee and matcha latte while eating ice cream made for a fun way to enjoy a variety of menu items. And the matcha was rich and delicious 👍

Strawberry and peach soft serve, 4,500 won each

Mellows' soft serve is 4500 won each, and this time I ordered both strawberry and peach. This was the menu I was most looking forward to on this visit — soft serve. The colors alone were striking, making it great for photos too. Fruit-flavored desserts especially pair well with coffee since they let you enjoy something sweet without feeling too heavy, which makes them a good fit as café desserts.

It was hard to pick just one between strawberry and peach, so I just ordered both, and comparing the two different flavors while eating was fun too. If you want to enjoy something like ice cream while at Seoul Forest or Seongsu, this might be worth keeping in mind.

Is Mellows worth a stop after a Seoul Forest walk?

Mellows stuck in my memory as a café that's great for taking care of coffee and dessert in one stop after walking around Seoul Forest. The area around Seoul Forest is great for finding cafés while strolling, so it's a nice place to visit on weekends or on a day with nice weather.

I especially liked that, unlike cafés that only sell coffee, you can also enjoy soft serve here. From a clean coffee like the iced americano to the matcha latte and strawberry and peach soft serve, there's enough choice to pick according to taste, which also made it good for sharing different menu items with whoever I visited with. I really love affogato ice cream too!!! Unfortunately I ordered coffee today so I had to pass on it ㅠㅠ I definitely want to try the affogato next time.

If you're checking out pop-ups around Seoul Forest or Seongsu and looking for somewhere to rest for a bit, Mellows is worth stopping by too. Seoul Forest has so many pop-ups and things to see that browsing around naturally makes you think of a sweet snack or a cool drink.

It was also a good spot to visit after a Seoul Forest walk, or after checking out Seongsu's Yeonmujang-gil and other hot spots around Seongsu-dong. Being able to choose from the iced americano, matcha latte, and strawberry and peach soft serve made it enjoyable to pick according to my taste, and next time I want to try the other desserts I didn't get to this time.
