Seongnam bossam restaurant with table kiosks and market alley parking

In short

Bossam Ae Kalguksu Seongnam Sangdaewon Branch is a bossam (boiled pork wrap) and kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant in the Sangdaewon Market alley in Seongnam, Gyeonggi. Ordering the small gabrisal bossam for 37,000 won on the kiosk sitting on each table brought two free servings of kalguksu, filling the table with food. Parking is easy too: the Sangdaewon 3-dong public lot on weekdays and the lot behind the building on weekends.

Prices have gone up so much lately that eating out can feel like a real splurge. I recently visited Bossam Ae Kalguksu Seongnam Sangdaewon Branch, a Sangdaewon-dong favorite, and both the price and the food left me really satisfied, so I wanted to share it with you. Here's my review of this budget-friendly Sangdaewon-dong spot where you can get a set meal with both bossam and kalguksu for just 10,000 won!

Where is Bossam Ae Kalguksu Sangdaewon, and where do you park?

Bossam Ae Kalguksu Seongnam Sangdaewon Branch sits inside the Sangdaewon Market alley. It's close to Seongnam Hi-Tech Valley too, so it seems like a great budget-friendly lunch spot for office workers.

On weekdays you can park at the Sangdaewon 3-dong public parking lot, and on weekends there's a lot behind the building. If you visit on a weekday evening after 8pm, enforcement stops so you can even park on the street — good to know.

Inside, this Sangdaewon-dong favorite has everything from single tables for solo diners to group tables. Since the bossam set meal can be ordered from just one serving, there were plenty of solo diners too.

How table kiosk ordering works, and the side dishes

Order kiosk installed at the table
Side dish spread with geotjeori and pa-kimchi

You order via the kiosk installed at every table. It seemed like most people order the set meal at lunch and the bossam menu at dinner.

The side dishes include house-made geotjeori (fresh cabbage kimchi) and pa-kimchi (green onion kimchi), plus chili peppers, garlic, and saeujeot (salted shrimp) to enjoy alongside the bossam.

Gabrisal bossam, small size (₩37,000) — I only ordered the gabrisal bossam, but a generous spread arrived complete with kalguksu too. Order bossam and you get two servings of kalguksu free, so you can enjoy it like a course meal at a great price.

Plate of gabrisal bossam boiled fresh in-house
Bossam served with bossam kimchi, dried radish strips, and cabbage wraps

The gabrisal bossam (boiled pork shoulder wrap), the restaurant's signature dish, is apparently boiled fresh in-house every morning. It had little fat, so it was clean and tender in flavor, and there was no gamy smell, so I think anyone would enjoy it. It tasted even better with the bossam kimchi, mu-mallaengi (dried radish strips), and cabbage wraps served alongside.

How did the free kalguksu taste?

The complimentary kalguksu came out simmering at the table so you could eat it warm, which was nice. Since it was a free add-on, I didn't expect much, but I was surprised by how delicious it was.

Kalguksu noodles and broth served in a bowl

The broth was clean and refreshing, and the chewy noodles didn't get soggy even after time passed, so it stayed delicious to the last bite. Eaten with the geotjeori and pa-kimchi, it was even better than what you'd get at a dedicated kalguksu restaurant. The pairing of the spicy yet clean broth with the mild gabrisal bossam was really great.

Tender bossam boiled fresh that day, plus a generous, clean and refreshing kalguksu — that's Bossam Ae Kalguksu, a Sangdaewon-dong favorite. If you're looking for a budget-friendly restaurant in Sangdaewon-dong, Seongnam, or just want a satisfying meal, be sure to visit Bossam Ae Kalguksu Seongnam Sangdaewon Branch!
