Basque cheesecake salt bread at Yeongdeungpo bakery café BYWAY BAKERS
In short
BYWAY BAKERS Yeongdeungpo Branch is a large bakery café on Dangsan-ro 27-gil near Yeongdeungpogu Office Station in Seoul. From the chilled showcase the writer picked the September-only fig Basque cheesecake wakppu salt bread (8,500 won) and a Hong Kong pineapple bun with salted butter and pineapple jam (4,500 won), plus two iced Americanos (4,000 won each). The salt bread held a generous amount of Basque cheesecake and fig, so the price felt fair, and the sheer range of bread at BYWAY BAKERS makes a return visit likely.

This is siyomi :-)
Wakppu balls and mallang-i (soft, squishy treats) are so trendy lately! I wanted a salt wakppu ball, so I visited BYWAY BAKERS, a café near Yeongdeungpogu Office Station!!
When does salt bread come out at BYWAY BAKERS Yeongdeungpo Branch?
BYWAY BAKERS Yeongdeungpo Branch is a bakery café on Dangsan-ro 27-gil near Yeongdeungpogu Office Station. There's a specific time the salt bread comes out, so if you have your heart set on a particular bread, I'd recommend timing your visit around it~

The seating inside was spacious and comfortable!

What kinds of bread does BYWAY BAKERS bake?
The display case at BYWAY BAKERS Yeongdeungpo Branch had everything from salt bread and garlic baguette to bagels, focaccia, and jambon-beurre sandwiches. There was also the Hong Kong pineapple bun, croissants, butter tteok (rice cake), chocolate baguette, and baked treats like financiers, egg tarts, and madeleines.

Financiers / egg tarts / madeleines

They said if you order the 5-financier set, they'll box it up for you!! And with 3 egg tarts, packaging is free too!

There's a tray at the end where you put the bread you want to eat~! Plates are there too!
There were so many different kinds of bread that it was hard to decide what to eat!!!

The fridge had even more breads that need to be kept chilled!!

There were cakes and wakppu salt breads in there! Lots of cake options too! Cake orders are possible as well~

The wakppu salt bread came in fig, blueberry, and peach flavors, and I picked fig, since it's only around in September!!

Drinks, seating and Wi-Fi at BYWAY BAKERS Yeongdeungpo
Here's the drink menu~! I ordered 2 iced Americanos!

There's a spot off to the side where you can get water :) Wi-Fi is available too!

I visited in September, and they had Hangawi and Chuseok gift sets too!!!
Since they carry cakes, they were also selling candles and birthday-related items!!

What we ordered: pineapple bun and fig wakppu salt bread
I ordered 2 iced Americanos + the fig batzike wakppu salt bread + the Hong Kong pineapple bun!

The other breads looked so delicious too, but I ordered two I'd never tried before!

Hong Kong pineapple bun (4,500 won): salted butter and pineapple jam
This is the Hong Kong pineapple bun! It said something like 'your ticket to Hong Kong for ₩4,500,' so I figured it must be some kind of Hong Kong dessert and ordered it! Inside it's got salted butter, and they give you pineapple jam alongside it too — the bread was crispy, and it went so well with the jam and butter!

Fig Basque cheesecake wakppu salt bread (8,500 won)
The wakppu salt bread! Fig flavor~ There was white chocolate on top of the salt bread, with a pretty thick coating!
They even gave me plastic gloves to eat it with! So thoughtful~!!!
That wakppu crunch!!! Such a good feeling!

The salt bread itself is already such a great salt bread on its own, and it turns out there's Basque cheesecake inside?? So you get another layer of sweetness on top of that, plus there was quite a lot of fig packed inside — at first I thought the price seemed steep, but not at all!!! It totally felt worth it!!

The Hong Kong pineapple bun felt like a whole new kind of dessert, so it was fun and novel — it had a texture kind of like what you'd expect from a choux cookie, and the salted butter and pineapple jam went so well together. My boyfriend actually liked this one even more and kept eating it happily!!
As for the wakppu salt bread, since BYWAY BAKERS' salt bread is already delicious on its own, it just tasted even better. I even saw someone packing an entire tray full of salt bread to take home!??
