This place is right near where I work, and I kept telling myself I'd go, but lunchtime restaurants aren't free so I held off. This time I finally made it >.< Sooo good — let's get into the review~~!

The three rice principles at the door and the Hundred-Year Store certification

At the entrance of Min Cook Dasima there's a sign with three rules for rice. I could tell this place takes rice seriously, and seeing it made me think, ah, the rice is going to be good. Honestly with sushi the fish matters, but the rice really matters just as much, right??!

Out front there were waiting seats and a waitlist sheet! Since this is a long-running spot in Hwajeong, I imagine there can be a wait on weekends and such...! We went just a bit past the weekday lunch rush, so there was no wait at all!!

Hundred-Year Store certification mark at Min Cook Dasima

There was a Hundred-Year Store certification posted out front. Since 2001, so it's not that many years apart from me, probably???lol. The Hundred-Year Store mark, besides Blue Ribbon, is another trustworthy sign of a good restaurant!!!!

Solo seats, the self-service corner and dining with kids

The dining hall at Min Cook Dasima is spacious, so it felt open and comfortable. The chairs were comfy too. These days I just can't do places with uncomfortable chairs lol.

Window seat with good natural light

The good natural light made me even happier... the weather was nice too~~!~! And they had solo seats..?? which seem great for eating alone!! You kind of feel awkward hogging a table alone sometimes, but here eating solo works confidently.

There was a self-service corner with tableware and a microwave? It seems like it's there so you can warm up baby food if you bring your little one! No high chairs, but the seats are roomy so a stroller fits fine next to a table — looks doable for bringing kids.

Ordering sushi without wasabi and paying with Goyang Pay

When ordering at Min Cook Dasima, you could choose to skip the wasabi! (For anyone who can't handle wasabi,,,that's me!!ha)

Oh, we didn't know so we called a staff member over, but it turns out you just select 'review written' on the QR code like this!!

We paid upfront for a review event! Goyang Pay was accepted~~! Interestingly, there's even a separate KakaoTalk chatroom for Min Cook regulars' discounts, which I found so surprising!!lol

Egg porridge served before the meal

What comes with the 25,000 won sushi set lunch special

First an egg porridge comes out, and it's so good. You know that thing where it's nothing fancy but it's just delicious.

Full spread of the sushi set lunch special

The sushi set lunch special is ₩25,000. It comes with salad, braised fish, chawanmushi, assorted tempura, 10 pieces of sushi, and miso soup! At first I was eating the salad — I don't usually eat salad, you know...? But that sauce was so good. My friend and I were like what is this, what is this, so we asked the staff and it turned out to be onion sauce. It was tangy and delicious, so I emptied the whole salad myself,,,,

I'm not really a fan of fish. But lately why do I keep eating it lol. Maybe because it's fresh — no fishy taste at all, I ate it happily!

The chawanmushi was silky~~ with shrimp and mushroom inside!! So good...

The tempura platter is the highlight: sweet pumpkin vs shrimp

But honestly the real kicker was the tempura. This place is a tempura restaurant, turns out. If it weren't lunch break during work I would've ordered a beer with it;;; lol. Thanks to the review event we got extra shrimp tempura. My companion said the shrimp tempura was the best, but I'm team sweet pumpkin tempura!!!!

The braised fish was seasoned just right, and there wasn't a single bone. And of course the braised radish needs no explanation!!!

Close-up of glossy sushi rice grains

I took this shot to show how much rice there is — can you see how glossy it looks?lol

Stuffed and happy lol lol lol. Ate well again today~!
