Gwangalli sashimi restaurant ₩60,000 seaside hansang set: Geumrang
In short
Geumrang Hoetjip Gwangalli Main Branch is a sashimi restaurant on the 6th floor of the Marine Rich building in Gwangalli, Busan. The writer reserved the subyeon hansang seaside set (₩60,000 per person) for two, which opened with abalone porridge and cold buckwheat noodles and kept coming with cheese scallops, grilled abalone, live octopus, boiled octopus, thick-cut sashimi, spicy fish stew, braised fish, egg rice and corn fritters. For a generous full-table spread with a 6th-floor sea view, Geumrang Hoetjip is the answer.

Today's review is Geumrang Hoetjip, a local favorite in Gwangalli! I went wanting a full sashimi spread — but seriously, the food just kept coming and coming..? Here's my review, shocked by both the portions and the taste.

Finding the Marine Rich building from the street
Geumrang Hoetjip is close to Gwangalli Beach and Millak Waterfront Park! Being near the tourist spots means it's easy to swing by while you're out sightseeing.
It's on the 6th floor of a large building, so it wasn't hard to find since the building itself is huge. The fish-shaped sign really caught my eye haha.
The 6th-floor sea view and the dining room
The inside of Geumrang Hoetjip was spacious and comfortable, and being on the 6th floor, the view out the window was incredible. It's got that classic sashimi-restaurant interior, if that makes sense — the whole vibe screams 'we're going to serve you proper sashimi here.' Geumrang Hoetjip's first strong point is definitely the view!

You get to eat your meal looking out at this view haha. Sashimi that's already delicious somehow tastes even better.

As soon as you walk into Geumrang Hoetjip, a ribbon greets you — can you see it? A place with a great view AND guaranteed great taste!

Above that are TV appearances and autographs from various celebrities, which adds a nice bit of trust.
Geumrang Hoetjip menu: hansang sets and lunch specials
Geumrang Hoetjip's menu seemed to be mainly about the generous hansang set spreads! Among them, the best is apparently the suybeon hansang.

This kind of thing would be great for treating someone! There's also a hansang lunch special, and you can order sashimi alone without the side dishes too.
Ordering the ₩60,000 subyeon hansang for two: abalone porridge and cold buckwheat noodles first
What we ordered was the best-selling suybeon hansang for two. We visited with a reservation.

The table was set up like this. The food started coming out soon after ordering! It just kept coming out like a course meal.. First up was abalone porridge and bibim buckwheat noodles (spicy mixed noodles) to warm up the stomach.
The abalone innards flavor was strong and really savory! Not fishy at all. And the cold bibim buckwheat noodles hit the spot too.
The endless seafood side dishes at Geumrang Hoetjip
Just as we were finishing up, more food got set out! The staff kept placing dish after dish — it never seemed to end.

Once it's all laid out, it looks like this~~ And the main course hasn't even come out yet.. this is before the main sashimi!

Cheese scallops, grilled abalone, seasoned shrimp, salmon salad, live octopus, boiled octopus (munteo sukhoe), steamed egg, sea cucumber, and more... it felt like the entire ocean had been moved onto our table.
They also told us which dishes were best eaten while still warm! That made everything even more enjoyable.

The grilled abalone in particular was absolutely on point~~ so chewy, so good! Oh, and the boiled octopus was really tasty too.. not fishy at all, and the sauce paired perfectly with it! Every single dish was high quality and delicious.
The main sashimi: thick cuts served with gonowata
Honestly, you'd already be full just from that, but that's when the main course of sashimi arrives. Ta-da! The portion of sashimi is also seriously substantial!? They said dipping it in the accompanying gonowata (fermented sea cucumber intestine sauce) makes it even more delicious.

Each piece had a little name tag next to it, which was nice for knowing exactly what fish we were eating.
But the sashimi here is seriously insane! First off, it's really thick, so the texture in your mouth is just artful~ The sashimi was chewy and fresh, clean and delicious!

There were also plenty of things to pair with the sashimi, like seaweed, pickled ginger, and sushi rice, so you could enjoy it in more variety! Even though I was seriously stuffed, somehow it all still went in because there were so many ways to eat it.
The finish: spicy fish stew, egg rice and corn fritters
By the time we finished the sashimi, we were seriously full~~ But no, more food came out.

Spicy fish stew (maeuntang), seasoned braised fish, egg rice, corn fritters, fish steak.. do you know that feeling of being at grandma's house? The place where no matter how much you eat, more just keeps coming..! But you gotta eat it, right!?
The egg rice was mixed together perfectly. It was a bit spicy, which actually felt refreshing on the palate!
The braised fish and the fish steak were seriously high quality! The seasoning had soaked well into the fish and the flesh was so tender~~ The spicy fish stew was, well, need I say more.. spicy and hearty, the kind that really settles your stomach.
And these corn fritters..! These are seriously delicious!! I recommend eating them last. They're the perfect sweet-and-salty dessert to finish on haha.
Ah, the portions here are huge and the food is so delicious, it was a really satisfying meal. While eating, I kept thinking about who I'd want to bring here — it would be great for treating someone, or for a fun meal with your own people!
Verdict: who should book Geumrang Hoetjip?
- Anyone looking for high-quality, fresh sashimi in Busan
- Anyone looking for a good spot for gatherings with friends or family
- Anyone looking for a generously portioned full-table spread
A local favorite in Gwangalli, "Geumrang Hoetjip" — highly, highly recommended❤️
