Daepae Maket, thin-cut pork belly in Daeyeon-dong, Busan

Today I'm introducing a thin-cut pork belly spot in Daeyeon-dong. It has a playroom for kids and a huge self bar, so it's great for group dinners or family gatherings — I've already been here so many times, and it's famous as a great meat place to visit with a baby too!

A Daeyeon-dong pork restaurant with a kids' playroom: what the seats are like

The interior was spacious and the seats were divided privately, making it even more comfortable, and there were group tables too, perfect for a work dinner or gathering.

There's also a separate, spacious playroom for kids, so people with children can eat comfortably too, and there are several baby chairs plus an air conditioner and fan at every seat — such a thoughtful space.

What's on the large self bar at Daepae Maket

Large self bar with kimchi and wrap vegetables

The self bar had everything you need for eating meat — all kinds of kimchi, various leafy vegetables for wraps, mushrooms, rice cakes, potatoes, garlic, and shredded green onion!

It was much bigger and more varied than the self bars at other BBQ places, well stocked with side dishes and ingredients to grill alongside the meat, plus every kind of sauce and utensil you could need, which made the meal really convenient.

Daepae Maket Daeyeon menu and prices

Even though it's a thin-cut pork belly restaurant, there were many types of meat and a variety of sides, and there was no table charge either. Best of all, the price was really reasonable at ₩4,900 to ₩6,900 per 100g, so the value was genuinely great.

Grilling 800g of Duroc thin-cut pork belly

Spicy fish cake soup served as the basic starter

Fish cake soup came as a basic starter, and with its spicy broth packed full of fish cake, it went well with the meat and made a great drinking snack too.

A full spread arranged from self bar ingredients

I brought over various ingredients from the self bar and arranged them to my taste, and the table ended up so full it was satisfying just to look at.

A plate of ordered Duroc thin-cut pork belly, 800g

I ordered 800g of thin-cut pork belly, priced at ₩4,900 per 100g — cheap, but the meat quality was great since it's from chestnut-fed Duroc pork, and the thickness gave it a good texture too.

Grill topped with kimchi, bracken fern, and mushrooms

The fun of thin-cut pork belly is mixing it with other ingredients, so I grilled it loaded up with kimchi, bracken fern, and mushrooms!

Thin-cut pork belly grilled crispy outside and juicy inside

Crispy outside, juicy inside — this thin-cut pork belly was delicious! This is the Daeyeon-dong spot I always come back to on days when I'm craving thin-cut over regular samgyeopsal.

Grill with mushrooms, potatoes, and bean sprouts cooking together

There were so many fresh ingredients to grill alongside it — mushrooms, potatoes, bean sprouts — that mixing different combinations never got old.

The meat itself was fresh with no gamey smell, savory and delicious, so it tasted great no matter what combination I tried.

A lettuce wrap piled high with ingredients

The combination with shredded green onion was especially delicious, and the lettuce wraps piled high with whatever I liked were so good the meat just kept disappearing.

Spicy jjamppong ramyeon and soy-sauce fried rice to finish the meal

Spicy jjamppong-flavored ramyeon served as the meal course

For the meal course I ordered the 'spicy jjamppong-flavored ramyeon,' and I really want to strongly recommend this. True to its name, it was genuinely spicy and cut through the richness of the meat perfectly — I was in awe the whole time I was eating it.

Ramyeon with firm noodles and a soft-boiled egg on top

The noodles were firm and the soft-boiled egg made the combination perfect, and it paired so well with the meat that I kept wondering the whole time what kind of ramyeon it was, haha.

Soy sauce fried rice ordered alongside the ramyeon

It felt like a shame to eat just the ramyeon, so I also ordered 'soy sauce fried rice,' and the savory flavor was excellent — I'd recommend trying this dish too.

Fried rice mixed with soy sauce and seaweed flakes

Mixing the soft fried egg with soy sauce and seaweed flakes was a familiar taste that made it even more delicious — I think it would be great for kids too.

Milk-flavored ice cream served as a post-meal treat

I'm the type who always looks for ice cream after eating meat, so I was really happy they served one ice cream and coffee per person. The rich milk-flavored ice cream was the perfect way to cleanse the palate — very satisfying.

With great-value thin-cut pork belly, a huge self bar, and a playroom, this is a spot that works for anyone, young or old, and I'd especially recommend it for family meals and group dinners. Give 'Daepae Maket Busan Daeyeon Branch' a visit as your go-to meat spot in Daeyeon-dong 💗
