This is actually one of my favorite spots, and I got a great chance to revisit it this time! The meat is delicious and the self bar makes the thin-cut pork belly even better to enjoy :) Always packed with customers!

Inside Daepae Maket: dining room and kids' zone

Daepae Maket, a must-visit in Daeyeon-dong, Busan! Even that day it was packed with customers. It has that easygoing BBQ restaurant vibe, and with the big grill on the table, you can grill anything you like :)

They even have a conscience scale set up, which surprised me,

There's a kids' zone, so when you come with children they can play there — this looked like a great spot for a family get-together :)

You can actually watch them slice the meat fresh as soon as your order goes in :)
What's on the self bar at Daepae Maket?

Daepae Maket in Daeyeon-dong, Busan has a really huge self bar. You know thin-cut pork belly tastes best not just on its own but grilled together with kimchi, bean sprouts and other ingredients, right? From wrapping greens to everything else, it's all set up at the self bar, so help yourself as much as you like :)

There was also rice cake, sundae (blood sausage), and sausage, so I brought those along too, and wrapping greens are a must!

They give you a kettle of odeng (fish cake) soup as a free service, and it's surprisingly delicious. I didn't expect much since it was free, but it was so good I finished it all, haha.
Duroc thin-cut pork belly, 4,900 won per 100g

First up, the most basic order at Daepae Maket in Daeyeon-dong, Busan: duroc thin-cut pork belly (₩4,900 per 100g). This is seriously good! Best bang for your buck!
Since it's thin-cut pork belly, it doesn't need long on the grill, which is great. And you know grilling it alongside bean sprouts, kimchi, and bracken fern on the side is basically the golden rule, right?

Honestly, the meat alone was already delicious. Thin-cut pork belly is good lightly grilled and soft, or grilled crisp — I switch it up depending on my mood that day. This time I went for the crispy version!

Grilling it together with rice cake is genuinely delicious! Some places make you pay extra for rice cake, but here — even though it's the tteokguk-style rice cake — you can eat as much as you want for free. Definitely try it with the rice cake, it's amazing!

Ordering jjolmyeon (spicy chewy noodles) and wrapping the meat in it is amazing :) It's been a while since I had jjolmyeon, and it was so good!
Thin-cut ssol-o-gyeopsal, 5,900 won per 100g, with a choice of thickness

This is the thin-cut ssol-o-gyeopsal pork belly (₩5,900 per 100g) at Daepae Maket in Daeyeon-dong, Busan! Also totally delicious — oh, and you can choose the meat thickness too, but I always go with the default thin cut. I feel like thin-cut pork belly tastes best thin. Of course, that comes down to personal preference!

This thin-cut ssol-o-gyeopsal also cooks quickly, so you can eat fast, which I liked. You can cut it, but honestly the meat is so tender you could eat a whole strip as is without any issue. It was so good that we ordered a ton of it and never even got to order a side — a shame! We filled up entirely on meat that day :) That's how good Daepae Maket is!
Free milk ice cream on the way out

Be sure to have the ice cream on your way out. This is another freebie you can even take with you — a really delicious milk ice cream! We were too full so we split one between the two of us, and afterward regretted not getting one each! :)
Is Daepae Maket Busan Daeyeon Branch worth a visit?

With delicious meat plus a self bar, this is a must-visit in Daeyeon-dong, Busan that I absolutely recommend. Even while super busy with tons of customers, the staff were still kind, and you can eat until you're stuffed without worrying about your wallet — I love this place!
