Busan shabu kalguksu restaurant with a 5-minute noodle timer: Yunujae
In short
Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu is a house-made noodle and shabu-shabu restaurant in Daerim Munhyeon City Plaza in Munhyeon-dong, Nam-gu, Busan. On a revisit at 7:40pm, close to the 20:00 last order, the writer ordered the 11,000 won shabu kalguksu set for two people in red broth at regular spice, added 70g of sirloin plus water spinach and oyster mushrooms, then cooked the house-made kalguksu using the table's 5-minute sandglass timer. Sirloin, vegetables, kalguksu and fried rice for 11,000 won per person make Yunujae a Munhyeon-dong restaurant worth returning to.

I went back to Yunujae Shabu Kalguksu in Munhyeon-dong, my go-to spot for house-made noodles and shabu-shabu! As the weather turns chilly, all I can think about is warm shabu-shabu♡
Where is Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu, and where do you park?
Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu is at 26 Suyeong-ro, Nam-gu, Busan, Daerim Munhyeon City Plaza, units 158-161 (부산 남구 수영로 26 대림문현시티프라자 158호-161호). It's open daily 11:00-20:50, with a weekday break time from 15:00-16:30, and last order is at 20:00. Parking is free for 2 hours.

Up to 2 hours free at the Daerim City Plaza basement mall parking lot!

Why the house-made noodles keep bringing diners back to Yunujae
It's technically a shabu-shabu place, but the reason Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu keeps popping into my head as a Busan kalguksu (noodle soup) favorite is this house-made noodle station!! There's a huge pile of flour right at the entrance and they're constantly making noodles, so it's fun just to watch.

You can go grab more broth, geotjeori (fresh kimchi), and diced radish kimchi from the self-serve corner *⸌☻ັ⸍*

A 7:40pm visit, just before last order at Yunujae
I went at 7:40pm, close to last order! Look how many people are here.... I was so nervous they'd run out of ingredients ㅜㅠㅠ I held out all day just to eat this ♡ ♡

What the 11,000 won shabu kalguksu set includes
The shabu kalguksu is only ₩11,000 per person?! It comes as a full course — sirloin + vegetables and mushrooms + house-made kalguksu + fried rice — all for just ₩11,000... For a place this good that I keep coming back to, at this price, no wonder it stays on my mind haha.

I liked that you can choose between two broths, red or white, plus a spice level. The white one especially has a mild version, so this Munhyeon-dong restaurant is great to visit with little kids too!

Extras like sirloin, mushrooms, and sujebi (torn dumpling noodles) aren't too pricey either, so we added a serving of sirloin (70g) haha.
Red broth at regular spice for two, cooked by the table instructions

Red broth (regular spice) for two — even the regular level was a little spicy, which was just right!

Once the food arrives, just check the instructions on the table at each seat and set the temperature accordingly haha.
This is the sirloin that comes standard — the quality is no joke, right??

The fried rice ingredients come with plenty of sesame oil, so the nutty smell starts drifting out the moment it arrives..~

The biggest reason I came to Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu !! It's this house-made kalguksu !!!! There's almost no floury heaviness to it, it's chewy and delicious, my kid went as wild for it as if she'd tasted a banana for the first time..

Turn up the induction burner and wait a bit — it comes to a boil.

The 70g sirloin add-on and the 5-minute sandglass timer
The added 70g of sirloin — shabu-shabu meat is sliced thin, so it's fine to grab a big handful at once haha. There are two portion sizes for add-ons, so you can order as much as you like!
This cute little timer is for the house-made kalguksu! After reading the instructions and setting the induction temperature, flip the sandglass and wait just 5 minutes — and the delicious noodles are ready haha.
It boiled up fast ♡ ♡ Let's dig in right away!!

I was supposed to add the meat at the same time, but it boiled so fast I missed my chance to put it in ㅋㅋ

Water spinach and oyster mushroom add-ons with soy sauce-wasabi dip
We wanted more vegetables so we added water spinach and oyster mushrooms!
We let the vegetables and meat cook together just a bit longer!
Meat gets tough once fully cooked, so we pull it all out and dip it in soy sauce-wasabi sauce!!

Such a fun house-made-noodle time ♡ We were having so much fun I forgot to take photos......

Finishing with fried rice at this Munhyeon-dong restaurant in Busan
After eating everything, we cleared the fried rice too!!! In Korea, fried rice is basically the K-dessert haha. Left completely full and happy.
I hope every Busan local hears about this place, and I really hope tourists try it too — the group behind me were foreign tourists eating shabu-shabu, and they scraped their bowls totally clean, so it must have suited their taste!
If you're looking for a Munhyeon-dong restaurant, or a favorite shabu-shabu spot in Busan, I recommend Yunujae Shabu Kalguksu♡
