Dongnae, Busan sushi restaurant with abalone sushi Set 2: Moshi Moshi

In short

Moshi Moshi Sushi, Lotte Department Store Dongnae Branch is a Japanese sushi restaurant on the 8th-floor restaurant level of Lotte Department Store Dongnae, a 2-minute walk from Myeongnyun Station Exit 5 in Busan. Two diners visited on a weekday at 11am and shared Set 2, which comes with 16 pieces of sushi, chashu, a vegetable salad, a tofu salad, jangguk (clear soup) and one noodle dish, chosen here as ramen. The abalone sushi, a first for the writer, and the smoky chashu made it a set almost anyone at the table would enjoy.

What comes in Set 2 for two, and how to order by tablet

✌🏻I visited with one other person, so I picked Set 2. Moshi Moshi's Set 2 is a set for two made up of 16 pieces of sushi, chashu, one noodle dish, vegetable salad, tofu salad, and jangguk (clear soup).

  • ✔️ 16-piece sushi
  • ✔️ Chashu
  • ✔️ 1 noodle dish → ramen
  • ✔️ Vegetable salad
  • ✔️ Tofu salad
  • ✔️ Jangguk (clear soup)

You can easily order via the tablet PC at each table. Besides sushi, there's soba, udon, ramen, sea squirt bibimbap, yukhoe (raw beef) bibimbap and more, so it'd also be a great spot to come alone for lunch at Dongnae Lotte 😋

While you're eating the vegetable salad, tofu salad and jangguk, the 🍣16-piece sushi comes out first~

Eel sushi, abalone sushi, white fish sushi, salmon sushi, shrimp sushi and tuna sushi! I loved that the sushi selection was made up of pieces everyone can agree on ( >д<)

The 16-piece sushi set with something for every taste

The 16-piece sushi plate: flounder, salmon and abalone

You know how sushi is usually meant to be eaten starting with the light, delicate white fish and working up to the rich, oily red fish, right~? Let's start with the flounder sushi 💛 Chewy yet clean-tasting with a subtle sweetness the more you chew, and no fishiness at all — a perfect way to start the meal!

The flounder sushi eaten first

Next is the sweet and salty eel sushi. The rice wasn't too much or too little, and the wasabi was in just the right amount to enjoy, so it suited my taste perfectly 👏🏻

Eel sushi topped with a sweet-salty sauce

The tuna sushi was so fresh it melted softly in my mouth the moment it touched my tongue, with a rich, fatty savoriness. I could really taste that clean, deep umami — such a luxurious flavor haha

A piece of soft tuna sushi

This was my first time trying abalone sushi, so it felt unfamiliar, but I liked the firm yet chewy texture — steamed gently so it wasn't tough at all and was really delicious.

Abalone sushi, tried for the first time

My beloved salmon sushi, topped with julienned onion and tartar sauce — what more is there to say, what an incredible combo~♥

The chashu included in Set 2

The chashu had such a soft texture it practically melted in my mouth, and it was soaked in a sweet-salty special soy sauce that made the umami just explode! There was even a hint of smokiness that made it more addictive with every bite...🍖

Moshi Moshi's chashu soaked in a special soy sauce

Eating it with the julienned onion on top cuts through any heaviness, and best of all, the ratio of lean meat to fat was just right?!

Ramen chosen as the set's noodle dish

Choosing ramen as the noodle dish in the set

I was debating on the noodle dish, but since the weather's been getting chilly lately, I ordered ramen~? Excellent choice 👍🏻 Chewy noodles with a savory, rich broth — amazing. Even though I was already full from the sushi, I kept going back for more haha (eating it with the last leftover piece of chashu made for an even more incredible combo♥)
