What kind of place is Deodo Gejang, a Tongdosa-area restaurant in Yangsan?
Deodo Gejang, a Yangsan restaurant near Tongdosa serving a table full of care, is run by chefs with over 20 years of hotel experience who cook everything to order — every dish prepared with real attention.

These days taste isn't the only thing that matters — what ingredients are used and how the food is made count too. What I liked about this Yangsan restaurant near Tongdosa is that they don't use MSG, use seasoning aged with natural fruit, and cook fresh ingredients only after you order.

📋 Menu

The classic rice thief: soy crab
You can't come to Deodo Gejang without trying the soy crab (ganjang gejang)! This Yangsan crab restaurant uses no MSG and only yellow crab caught in the clean waters off Jeju.

What stood out most is that it's not just the salty punch you usually get from crab — there's a deep savory richness in the sauce, which made it even more delicious eaten with rice at this Yangsan crab restaurant.

The moist, tender texture of the crab meat paired beautifully with the salty-sweet soy sauce marinade. A bite of savory soy crab with warm pot rice really lived up to the saying that soy crab is a 'rice thief' — !

Kimchi pancake and sweet-and-sour tofu
Kimchi pancake (kimchijeon)

Sweet-and-sour tofu (dubu tangsu)

Hotpot bulgogi, great for eating with kids
The hotpot bulgogi (ttukbaegi bulgogi) that came with the crab had tender bulgogi in a sweet broth — perfect paired with rice!

Visiting this Tongdosa-area spot with my kid, I liked that the hotpot bulgogi came along with everything else, so you can mix and match dishes depending on your taste — a great Tongdosa restaurant to bring kids to.

Freshly made stone pot rice
The stone pot rice, made all the more delicious for being freshly cooked, had grains that stayed chewy and lightly nutty and savory — good enough to eat on its own at this Korean restaurant near Tongdosa in Yangsan.

How was the grilled fish?
The grilled fish came out golden brown, with a savory char on the outside and moist, tender flesh inside — a real standout at this Yangsan restaurant near Tongdosa.

There was a clean, subtle savoriness typical of good grilled fish — not overly seasoned, but clean enough that I kept going back for more at this Yangsan grilled fish spot.
Grilled fish can be off-putting when the flesh is dry, but the fish at this Tongdosa restaurant, Deodo Gejang, was moist and tender, making it fun to pick apart, and the nicely charred skin added extra savoriness and good texture!
Dipped in soy sauce, it was even tastier with that salty kick.

Finishing with stone pot nurungji
Pour warm water over the rice left in the stone pot, wait a bit, and you get savory nurungji (scorched rice) — gently scraping up the rice stuck to the bottom gives you a mix of crispy scorched bits and softly swelled grains, all deeply nutty~

Deodo Gejang is a great place to visit near Tongdosa for a neat, hearty meal, with a variety of dishes to try all in one sitting — a recommended restaurant in Yangsan!
