Parking and first impressions at Otters Jisan Saetgang

When I arrived at Otters, famous as a Gumi mega café, the parking lot was really huge. It's an overwhelming size even compared to other large cafés! No matter when you visit, parking doesn't seem like it'd ever be an issue.

You're greeted by cute characters at Otters — apparently they're modeled after the otter, a natural monument found at Jisan Saetgang Park where the café is located! The overall vibe is retro American, spacious, relaxed, and free — the entrance alone was such a great photo spot.

How big is the doughnut and bakery selection at Otters?

Otters is famous for its spacious, comfortable mega-café space, but I heard it's also famous for its doughnuts! Apparently some people come just to buy the doughnuts, so I picked a few to try. There really was a huge variety of doughnuts — almost as many kinds as a dedicated doughnut shop.

Beyond doughnuts, they also had a really wide range of regular bakery items too. Most items on the menu seemed like something everyone could enjoy, no strong likes or dislikes involved. Since Otters is a welcome-kids zone, there were a lot of menu items that looked good for kids too.

The drink menu was also varied, with plenty of seasonal drinks on offer.

There are new doughnuts too, so I'd recommend trying them! With so many options, if you're not sure what to pick, here's a tip — choose from these!

They also sell Pororo drinks and juice for little kids.

With so many kinds of baked goods and drinks, they even sell tteokbokki (spicy stir-fried rice cakes)! With such a varied menu, it's a place everyone from adults to kids can enjoy.

Seating, nursing room and baby chairs across both floors

After ordering everything, I took a look around the inside. Otters runs across two floors.

  • The 1st floor has the ordering counter, the area where food is made, plus wide seating, a nursing room, and a diaper-changing space
  • The 2nd floor has group seating and floor seating, run as a family-friendly space

First floor: table seating and bakery counters

The interior is styled around Otters' main character and an orange color concept throughout. With wide picture windows letting in warm sunlight and high ceilings, it felt really open. The atmosphere itself is so comfortable that just sitting there feels healing.

Nursing room and baby chairs at Otters

There's a nursing room on the 1st floor. Baby chairs are available on both the 1st and 2nd floors.

Second floor: floor seating and doughnut-shaped tables

You go up the stairs to reach the 2nd floor, and the seats up there were really spacious too. Alongside regular table seats, there's a floor-seating area in the middle, which looked great for visiting with young kids. True to its welcome-kids-zone reputation, there were plenty of baby chairs available, and the floor-seating tables are shaped like doughnuts, which kids really loved. Otters' signature character decorates the space here and there, and it matched the vibe so well.

Five Otters doughnuts and a drink set on the table

The five cream doughnuts ordered and what they cost

I sat down with the 5 doughnuts I ordered! Here's what I got:

  • Oreo cream doughnut ₩4,300
  • Lotus cream doughnut ₩4,200
  • Apple cinnamon cream doughnut ₩3,800
  • Real milk cream doughnut ₩4,200
  • Crème brûlée doughnut ₩4,200

I tried all 5 kinds in total.

They even gave us a bakery knife so we could cut them into just the right bite-sized pieces.

Basically all the doughs were so soft, they were really nice to eat. Each flavor was clearly distinct! You could really taste exactly what each concept promised, which made trying different kinds fun. They were as soft as doughnuts from a dedicated doughnut shop. There was so much cream packed inside too, which paired really well with coffee.

Real milk cream doughnut, the best seller at Otters

This is the 🥛real milk cream doughnut, said to be the best-seller. The fresh cream inside was massive! It overflows the moment you cut it. The soft doughnut texture combined with fresh cream made this one that both kids and adults could enjoy.

This is the Oreo cream doughnut, a combination kids can't help but love. On top there's an actual Oreo cookie, and inside it's packed generously with chocolate-flavored cream.

Now I understand why so many people come to Otters specifically to buy doughnuts! They're really, really delicious. I'd say it's basically on par with a dedicated doughnut shop!

Iced buttercream latte at Otters

For a drink I got the iced buttercream latte, and it paired so well with the doughnuts! The smooth, distinctive latte finish was so satisfying — not just the bread, but the drink was genuinely delicious too.

Bread bags and plastic wrap ready at Otters' first-floor self-packing station

Taking leftovers home from the first-floor packing station

Right next to the tray return area on the 1st floor, there's a self-service packing station where you can pack up leftover bread or doughnuts to take home. This kind of thoughtful touch was so nice!

There were plastic wrap and bread bags in various sizes ready to go, so it was really convenient to pack up however much was left. It was well maintained and kept clean, too — such a satisfying self-packing space at Otters.
