I had some errands to run in Cheonan and it felt a shame to just head straight home, so I went looking for a pretty café — that's how I found Pino Cafe Cheonan, said to have gorgeous yellow cosmos in bloom. I was in the mood for some autumn vibes anyway, and since I could see the cosmos and eat a good brunch here, I went for it.

True to its reputation as a large Western-style café in Cheonan, the menu ranges from brunch to pasta, pizza and bakery items, so you can enjoy a full meal and dessert all in one place.

Inside the main building and the annex

The interior is split between a main building and an annex. The main building had wooden tables paired with brick-textured walls for a warm, cozy mood — less of the clean minimal look you see at cafés these days and more of a subtly vintage feel, with soft sunlight coming in through the windows, perfect for a relaxed brunch.

Right next door, the annex is done up in white wood tones, giving it a cleaner, brighter feel than the main building. The two spaces have slightly different moods, so you can just pick whichever suits your taste.

If you're at Pino Cafe Cheonan, you really have to check out the outdoor garden — it's basically the main attraction. Open the door at the back of the main building and it leads straight out into it.

The outdoor garden with yellow cosmos and a red windmill

I happened to visit right when the yellow cosmos were in full bloom, so I headed to the garden with high expectations.

Yellow cosmos field surrounding a red windmill

Stepping into the garden, bright yellow cosmos spread out wide around a vivid red windmill. The yellow flowers swayed gently in the breeze with the red windmill standing sharply in the middle of it all — the colors alone were gorgeous. Walking slowly through the flower beds, it almost felt like being in a little slice of the Netherlands.

I took plenty of profile-worthy shots with the cosmos as a backdrop and wandered slowly around the wide garden. It's great for a stroll while admiring the cosmos, and there are so many spots for photos that it'd also make for a unique date spot in Cheonan. This is exactly the right season for it, so I'd recommend having brunch and then taking your time exploring the garden.

The lawn, the camping tents, and bringing your dog

Head up a little further above the cosmos and you'll find a wide-open lawn. The grass area is spacious enough that it's great for kids to run around, and also nice for a walk with your dog (dogs are allowed here).

Camping tents set up on one side of the lawn

On one side of the lawn there are also camping tents set up. With the wide lawn right in front, it looked like a great setup — kids can run around freely while the adults relax in the tent. The camping tents require a reservation to use, so if you're interested, check the reservation details.

How the special lunch, pastry corn cheese pizza and potato croissant tasted

A brunch spread with special lunch, pizza and croissant on the table

While we were out looking at the garden, our order came out before we knew it. We'd ordered the special lunch, the pastry corn cheese pizza, the potato croissant, and 2 iced Americanos.

Potato croissant filled with potato at Pino Cafe Cheonan

First, the potato croissant: crisp on the outside, moist on the inside, with soft potato tucked inside for a savory, light flavor. It wasn't heavy at all, so it was easy to eat.

Pastry corn cheese pizza piled high with corn cheese

The pastry corn cheese pizza had a pastry-dough crust, so it was crisp on the outside with a nice flaky texture that held up as you chewed. It was piled with savory corn cheese for a sweet-salty flavor that paired really well with the crisp dough — I enjoyed every bite.

Special lunch with scrambled eggs, sausage and fries

Lastly, the special lunch had a hearty spread of ingredients, so it was fun picking and choosing what to eat. The soft, moist scrambled eggs paired with crisply grilled croissant and sausage made it filling, and the fries were seasoned just salty enough to go along nicely. There was even a salad on the side that cut through the richness, making it a satisfying full meal.
