While looking for a hearty gukbap (rice soup) place near Gamsam Station, I visited Mubokka Gukbap Gamsam Branch (무보까국밥 감삼점)! This time, rather than having gukbap alone, we ordered the Mubokka set meal, where the meat comes separately, and tried the tasting sundae (Korean blood sausage) too :)

Near Gamsam Station and parking

It is close to Exit 3 of Gamsam Station. Being right near the station made it easy to get to by public transit, and drivers could use the space behind the building.

On the map, it can be a little confusing at first because the location looks like this! If there is no space here, you can also use the Seodaegu Tax Office parking lot or a public parking lot :)

The basic side dishes included kimchi, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), seasoned chives, chili peppers, and garlic.

They say the restaurant makes and serves the side dishes in-house, from the kimchi and kkakdugi to the seasoned chives.

House-made side dishes

They provide salted shrimp and dadaegi (spicy seasoning paste) directly too, so I could eat with confidence!

Mubokka set meal with meat and broth served separately

The Mubokka set meal was different from a gukbap where the meat arrives in the soup from the start: the meat and broth came separately. The plate was filled in a row with thick slices of boiled pork belly, along with a little sundae.

The meat used pork belly, so both lean meat and layers of fat were visible, and the slices were nicely thick.

Beef-bone broth and seasoning it to taste

One thing that stood out at Mubokka Gukbap was the information about its beef-bone broth. The restaurant notice said it was Korea's first registered patent for beef-bone broth, and explained that the broth is made by simmering water and beef bones.

First, I tried the milky-white broth as it was, then seasoned it to my taste. With dadaegi, salted shrimp, salt, and pepper, I could adjust it exactly as I wanted.

Adding chives and having the meat alongside it was nice because I could enjoy the meat and broth separately, unlike gukbap eaten all in one bowl.

The pork belly was deliciously boiled too, so it made for such a satisfying meal with the gukbap :) The tasting sundae we ordered with the set meal was ₩8,000.

Tasting sundae side dish

It came cut into bite-size pieces, making it easy to have alongside the set meal, and the cross-sections showed that it was packed with filling.

With two Mubokka set meals and the tasting sundae laid out, it made a generous full spread even for two people.
