Downward smoke vents and parking at Songpa Korean BBQ Sutbul Seonghwa
In short
Sutbul Seonghwa is a charcoal-grilled beef restaurant near Seokchon Station and Songnidan-gil in Songpa, Seoul. The writer ordered the Seonghwa Combo 400g — 240g Seonghwa sirloin plus 160g wine-marinated rib meat — with soybean paste stew, and a staff member did the first grilling while explaining each cut, so the table could keep talking. What is Sutbul Seonghwa, the Korean BBQ near Seokchon Station?
For this Seokchon Station restaurant pick, I wanted to introduce a fancier beef restaurant that's perfect for a special occasion or a date course — Sutbul Seonghwa, a blind-date favorite near Songnidan-gil.
You could feel the upscale mood from the entrance, and even if you drive there, there's a parking lot right next door so you can date without any hassle. Inside, the black-toned interior with soft lighting and sunlight streaming through the windows made it perfect for a blind date, and thanks to the downward exhaust system, the smoky meat smell doesn't cling to your clothes — such an appealing point for eating comfortably.

Sutbul Seonghwa, a favorite restaurant near Seokchon Station, runs a variety of review events — write one and you get 1 highball for a party of 1, 2 highballs for a party of 2, and hanwoo (Korean beef) tartare for a party of 3, just so you know.

Sutbul Seonghwa is located on Songnidan-gil, with a separate parking lot on the right side, so it's great to drive there — perfect for a date course, especially on a hot day when you can skip the walk and drive right up.
Private rooms and window seats: how do they work for a blind date?

Eating delicious beef in such an upscale place immediately struck me as ideal for a date course or blind date on an important or special day.

If you actually visit, you'll find yourself thinking, 'oh, this is nice.'
Every window-side seat is private, and there are several rooms too, making it a great Songpa beef restaurant for comfortable dining on important occasions.
With several rooms and hangers available, you can hang up your coat and eat comfortably without worrying about other people looking.

There's also a showcase displaying the meat and shelves of various liquors, so it's fun just to look around and see what meats and drinks are available.

You can also leave your phone for charging, and there's a baby chair, fabric deodorizer and candy available, just so you know.
What comes with the Seonghwa Combo 400g

I naturally went for Sutbul Seonghwa's signature Seonghwa Combo — 240g of Seonghwa sirloin and 160g of wine-marinated rib meat, 400g total, a generous amount for a date — plus soybean paste stew (doenjang jjigae) and a cola.

The full spread was set up so neatly and elegantly on the black table that it was photogenic, and the well-marbled beef came out quickly too, so there was no awkward waiting.
The soybean paste stew had tofu and beef in it and was genuinely rich and delicious — I remember polishing off a whole bowl of rice with it.

Staff-led first grilling over charcoal
Sutbul Seonghwa is a popular Seokchon Station restaurant for dates, known for using premium charcoal — the moment I saw it, I thought the charcoal looked really good. You can also enjoy high-quality beef alongside whiskey and various drinks, making it a great place to set the mood.

A staff member asked whether they should grill everything at once or just do a little pre-grilling first, then grilled a round for us — that alone was convenient and nice. I asked for just one pre-grilling, so the Seonghwa sirloin from the combo was grilled first, and with the professional grilling system over charcoal, it looked delicious just from the photos.

Eating it for real, the juices burst out and it melted in my mouth — so good.

I also ate it with various sides — onions and mushrooms.

Eating it with all kinds of vegetables — minari (water dropwort) and lightly frozen radish salad — along with the side dishes was so delicious that I kept eating without getting tired of it.

Grilling the wine-marinated rib meat yourself
I also grilled the wine-marinated rib meat myself — the heat was strong, so it cooked in just one or two flips and was delicious.

The tender sirloin melted away, while the savory rib meat, soaked in that hint of wine marinade, had a chewy texture and deep flavor — the combo felt complete.
Here, the staff explained every side dish and cut of beef one by one, and grilled the meat for us from start to finish (they ask whether to grill it all at once or just once at first), explaining each cut along the way, so we could focus fully on our conversation. Being treated to high-quality beef in such a nice atmosphere made for a very satisfying date, and if you want a memorable, upscale lunch or dinner with someone special, give Sutbul Seonghwa, a favorite restaurant near Seokchon Station, a try!
