An upscale hanwoo charcoal BBQ spot near Seokchon Station with a great atmosphere — Sutbul Seonghwa.
Finding a beef restaurant near Seokchon Station to host a friend from overseas
Sutbul Seonghwa is an upscale hanwoo charcoal BBQ restaurant at 17 Songpadae-ro 48-gil, Songpa-gu, Seoul, 1st floor, near Seokchon Station. I was meeting up with a friend from Hanoi, Vietnam, whom I hadn't seen in ages, and I agonized over where to take them. I was excited to reunite and wanted to treat them properly, so I searched for an upscale beef restaurant near Seokchon Station with a good atmosphere and went to check it out. Having been there myself, everything from the quality of the meat to the vibe was so satisfying that I wanted to share it honestly.
Sutbul Seonghwa: address, hours and the basics

Inside Sutbul Seonghwa: black-toned interior and window seats

The interior caught my eye the moment I walked in. The clean, modern black-toned design gave the whole place an upscale feel.

It was the perfect space to sit quietly and catch up over a meal with my friend from Hanoi after so long.

It felt just right for a cozy meal for two, but also perfectly presentable for hosting an important guest.

Looking around, I also noticed someone dining solo, enjoying a meal alone.

Checking the menu, the lunch specials looked like great value!

Being able to see the meat aging in the fridge with my own eyes gave me a lot of confidence in the place! Even to an untrained eye, the condition looked excellent!
Seonghwa Assorted Platter 400g: 240g sirloin and 160g wine-marinated rib finger

We ordered the signature Seonghwa Assorted Platter 400g. Maybe because of the black interior, the pale pink-red color of the meat on the grill really stood out.

The grade of the meat was obvious at a glance — the clean, dense marbling was a work of art. With 240g of sirloin and 160g of wine-marinated short rib, the portion was just right for two people.

The sirloin had a rich, deep nuttiness that spread through the mouth the more you chewed.

The wine-marinated short rib had a richer, more intense fattiness than the sirloin. If you like fattier cuts, you'll be very satisfied!

It was a bit too rich for me personally, but the side dishes that came with it cut right through that heaviness. One bite of each cut was enough to tell this was a legit upscale premium beef restaurant!

Final verdict: wine next time, doenjang jjigae set at lunch

Between the upscale black interior and the perfect pale pink meat quality, my friend kept marveling at the place, which made me proud.

Eating great beef while catching up on years of stories, I completely lost track of time. Since they're corkage-free, next time I plan to bring a bottle of wine from home for an evening visit. On my next trip to Seokchon, I'm definitely going to try the doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) set that I love as a lunch special.
