Counter seats that make solo dining easy at Sushi Naru

Walking into Sushi Naru, there was a long counter seat inside, plus seating by the window too. The whole place had a warm, cozy wood-tone interior, and it didn't feel awkward at all to eat there alone.

Because there's counter seating, it seemed like a comfortable option for anyone looking for a solo-dining spot near Yeongdae Hospital. And sure enough, there were quite a few solo diners there!

Delivery and takeout orders kept coming in too, so it looked like a place that's used just as much for takeout and delivery as for dine-in.

The sushi menu ranged from a basic assorted sushi set to special sushi and even a premium special set. You could also add individual sushi pieces à la carte, and beyond sushi there were rice bowls, katsu, and sashimi too, so there were quite a lot of options.

Honest review: the 12-piece Special Sushi Platter and mini udon

A salad came out as a basic side dish, and ordering sushi or a meal came with a mini udon on the side.

Here it comes-!

Special Sushi Platter, 12 pieces

It was made up of 2 pieces of flounder, raw salmon, seared salmon, akami tuna, red sea bream, scallop, sweet shrimp, soy sauce shrimp, egg, beef, and freshwater eel.

The salmon was soft, and the soy sauce shrimp had a bit of seasoning, so it came off a touch salty. The beef and freshwater eel had a subtle grilled aroma that paired really well with the sauce, and they were delicious. 😃

The rice portion was a little more generous than at a typical sushi place, and the grains had a chewy, sticky texture. When picked up with chopsticks, the rice didn't fall apart easily, and the more I chewed, the more I noticed a subtle sweetness. Overall, it made for a filling meal.

Is Sushi Naru worth it for eating alone?

Sushi Naru's special sushi platter let me try a wide variety of sushi in one sitting, and with the mini udon on the side, it made for a satisfying meal.

With counter seating available, it was a fine spot for solo dining, and with rice bowls, katsu, sashimi, and more beyond just sushi, there's enough variety to keep coming back and trying something different.
