Gangnam Station Korean BBQ with outdoor yajang seats: Kkondae Kim

In short

Kkondae Kim Bujang Gogi-jip Gangnam Station Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant a 5-minute walk from Exit 11 of Gangnam Station in Seoul. The oddol galbi (chewy cartilage rib meat) arrives fully grilled from a dedicated fire station beside the entrance, and the table fills up with banchan — pink ham, jeon (savory pancake), acorn jelly, pollack roe and seasoned squid. Staff grill the meat at the table, and with a wide indoor hall plus outdoor yajang (open-air) seating, Kkondae Kim Bujang works well for a Gangnam Station work dinner or group gathering.

How to get to Kkondae Kim Bujang Gogi-jip from Exit 11 of Gangnam Station

If you've ever had a gathering or dinner near Gangnam Station, you know the struggle of picking a place. Gangnam has so many BBQ restaurants that it's not enough for the meat to be good — you also want somewhere comfortable for a group with solid banchan (side dishes) too. So this time I went to the newly opened Kkondae Kim Bujang Gogi-jip Gangnam Station Branch.

The name itself is kind of funny haha. At first it just stuck in my head because it was unusual, but once I actually went, the place turned out to be bigger than I expected, with generous space between tables. The location was good too — about a 5-minute walk from Exit 11 of Gangnam Station. The address is 20 Gangnam-daero 98-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, 1st floor, and since it's not too far from the station, it's an easy meeting spot to set.

  • About 340m from Exit 11 of Gangnam Station
  • Hours: Mon–Sat 11:30–00:30 / Sun 11:30–23:00

I confirmed the hours are 11:30–00:30 Monday through Saturday, and 11:30–23:00 on Sunday. That's pretty generous timing for a late dinner or company gathering near Gangnam Station.

How big is the hall, and what are the outdoor yajang seats like?

Kkondae Kim Bujang Gogi-jip Gangnam Station Branch has everything from 2-4 person tables to seating for larger groups, so it seemed good both for meals with friends and as a work dinner spot near Gangnam Station. BBQ restaurants around Gangnam Station tend to be crowded with tables packed tightly together, but here the space felt roomier than expected, so even with a big group it didn't feel cramped.

On nice days you can use the outdoor patio like in the photo, and with weather like this lately, it was fully booked.

There were even congratulatory flower stands from an entertainment company for the opening. As for the oddol galbi (chewy cartilage rib meat), it comes out already grilled, so it's easy to eat and delicious. There's a dedicated grilling station set up right next to the entrance.

What banchan comes with the meal at Kkondae Kim Bujang?

What surprised me most here was the banchan. At a lot of BBQ places you get a few basic side dishes and mostly just focus on the meat, but at Kkondae Kim Bujang Gogi-jip Gangnam Station Branch, the moment the table was set I could already tell there was a lot going on haha. Pink ham, jeon (savory pancakes), acorn jelly, onions, pollack roe — the table was completely full.

There was even seasoned squid, so honestly I felt like I could finish a bowl of rice before the meat even showed up. Once the squid dish appeared, my friend and I were like, is this place actually serious about its banchan? haha.

Salted oyster and other side dishes to pair with the meat

There were side dishes like salted oyster and pollack roe that go great with the meat, and others that are just good for picking at on their own, so the table felt pretty substantial. In Gangnam, where prices tend to run higher, plenty of places keep the banchan simple, but here the spread was generous right from the start, which put me in a good mood. Honestly, with everything they set out, I wondered if there was anything left over for the kitchen — the first table setting alone left an impression.

And I appreciated that the staff grilled the meat themselves. Whenever a group meets at a BBQ place, someone always ends up in charge of grilling. I kind of hate that role haha, but here the staff did it for us, so we could just sit and talk while eating.

While the meat was going on the grill and cooking up nicely, we snacked on the banchan one by one, and I found myself picking at things even before the meat was ready. When the banchan at a BBQ place is this good, it doubles as drinking snacks too, which seemed especially handy for a company dinner.

Best wrap and banchan combinations

Once the meat was cooked through, we really got into eating, and yeah — meat is always best eaten straight off the grill. It was delicious dipped lightly in salt, and just as good wrapped in lettuce with various side dishes. I like wrapping my meat in lettuce leaves, so I tried different combinations, and with so many kinds of banchan on hand, I could keep switching things up.

Eating meat nonstop can get a bit greasy after a while, but pairing it with the seasoned squid or other tangy side dishes was a good way to reset my palate between bites.

Is Kkondae Kim Bujang a good spot for a Gangnam Station group dinner?

This place also seems good for group visits since the space itself is spacious, with plenty of room for several people to sit together. So it seemed like it would work well not just for meetups with friends, but also as a Gangnam Station BBQ spot for office dinners or group gatherings. When several people are meeting near Gangnam Station, location matters a lot, and being an easy walk from Exit 11 is a definite plus.

The table near the end of the meal

I visited in the evening for BBQ, but since they're open from lunchtime too, it also seemed like a good option for office workers looking for lunch spots near Gangnam Station. They have lunch menu items in addition to the BBQ menu, so anyone working nearby might want to drop by during lunch hour.

Above all, what stood out to me most after this visit was that beyond the taste of the meat, the generous banchan spread is a clear signature of this place. A lot of BBQ restaurants these days serve just a few basic side dishes, but here the table was packed full, so my satisfaction was high from the very start. Seeing even the seasoned squid appear made me wonder if there was anything left in the kitchen haha — with so many side dishes to pair with the meat, there was real enjoyment in mixing and matching.

If you're looking for a place to eat meat with friends near Gangnam Station, or hunting for a spot for a work dinner or a Gangnam Station group gathering, this is worth a visit. I especially liked that staff grill the meat themselves when a group gets together, so you can relax and chat while eating, and the generous banchan made it great for sharing among several people. Personally, when it comes to BBQ restaurants, I care as much about how solid the side dishes are as I do about the meat itself, and Kkondae Kim Bujang Gogi-jip Gangnam Station Branch was quite satisfying on that front.
