Bibim guksu solo lunch at Gangnam Gyoja, a Seohyeon Station restaurant
In short
Gangnam Gyoja Bundang Seohyeon Branch is a kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) and gyoza dumpling restaurant on the 2nd floor of Dadu Plaza, right in front of AK Plaza by Exit 5 of Seohyeon Station in Seongnam, Gyeonggi. Eating alone on a weekday around 1pm, the writer had one bowl of bibim guksu (spicy mixed noodles) tossed with meat and cucumber strips and a full plate of ten gyoza dumplings that burst with juice. Gangnam Gyoja is known for its kalguksu, but the bibim guksu was a success too, and a return visit is certain.

Where is Gangnam Gyoja Bundang Seohyeon Branch, and is there a wait?

Visited Gangnam Gyoja Bundang Seohyeon Branch for a Seohyeon Station lunch spot. It's right in front of Seohyeon Station and AK Plaza, so accessibility is amazing!! Even directionally-challenged me found it right away.
I went a bit past the weekday lunch rush, around 1pm, and got in with no wait. But customers kept streaming in nonstop. Makes sense — this is the branch famous for the Myeongdong Gangnam Gyoja line, plus its own reputation as a Seohyeon Station favorite.

Solo seats at Gangnam Gyoja and what the dining room feels like
Gangnam Gyoja Bundang Seohyeon Branch is spacious and clean overall!! There are solo seats, 2-person tables, 4-person tables, and even group seating, so it works for solo dining or a group meal.
The whole place is tidy, and the utensils all come individually wrapped, so even a cleanliness-obsessed person like me could eat with total peace of mind.

Ordering by tablet: bibim guksu instead of the famous kalguksu
You order by tablet once you sit down. This place is really famous for its kalguksu, but I wasn't in the mood for that today, so I ordered one bowl of bibim guksu and a plate of gyoza dumplings.
And that turned out to be a great call. I thought they only did kalguksu and dumplings well, but it's a bibim guksu spot too... though every other table around me was eating kalguksu!!

Receipt review tteokgalbi, free rice and the self-serve seasoning bar
They're running a review event right now. Leave a Naver receipt review and you get tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patties) or a drink! I already ordered plenty so I skipped it. Next time I'm doing the review event for that tteokgalbi! The table next to me got it, and it looked delicious.
At the self-service bar you can grab free rice — mixing it into leftover kalguksu broth must be amazing. Every table also has its own seasoning tray with kalguksu dadegi, soy sauce, pepper, and red pepper powder. I made myself a solid dipping sauce with soy sauce and red pepper powder for the gyoza.

What the bibim guksu tastes like, and the broth served with it
My plate of gyoza and bibim guksu came out really fast — maybe five minutes!!

When you order bibim guksu, they give you a broth too — seolleongtang-style? kalguksu broth? Not totally sure, but it was so refreshing and delicious. I drank it in one go.

The noodles in the bibim guksu are unusual. Someone told me the name of the noodle type but I forget... anyway, it's healthier than wheat noodles. Much less heavy than a flour noodle, so I enjoyed it thoroughly.
And the seasoning wasn't just sauce — it looked like it had bits of the gyoza filling (meat) mixed right in. Plus cucumber strips on top, which paired perfectly and tasted amazing!!!
Even writing this now I'm drooling ㅠㅠ I want to eat it again ㅠㅜ

How many gyoza dumplings come on one plate? Ten
And then the gyoza plate. I expected maybe four or five, but ten came out and I was genuinely startled. The portion is huge!!!! Eating alone, I was briefly overwhelmed looking at the pile, but it was so good I scraped the plate clean.
The gyoza dough was wonderfully chewy on the outside, and the filling burst with juice inside — so good. Freshly steamed dumplings are just the best, you all know it...

Finishing the bibim guksu with kimchi on top
The bibim guksu and dumpling combo needs no explanation. I wrapped bites and piled kimchi on top too. Gangnam Gyoja's kimchi is genuinely delicious. Like, really really good.
The table next to me refilled their kimchi at least five times and said 'thanks for the great kimchi!' on their way out — that's how good it is!! My Seohyeon Station lunch at Gangnam Gyoja was a total success. Definitely planning to come back!!
