Private room baeksuk restaurant in Asan Eumbong: Oneungi Shabu Baeksuk

There's a neungi mushroom baeksuk place I fell in love with after my last visit — the broth got me hooked haha. This time my mother, who loves baeksuk, came along, so we went back again haha. Bringing family back to a place is proof it's a real find, right? haha This is Oneungi Shabu Baeksuk, my go-to baeksuk spot in Asan haha.

Where is Oneungi Shabu Baeksuk, and is there parking?

Oneungi Shabu Baeksuk is on the 1st floor at 5 Eumbong-ro 401beon-gil, Eumbong-myeon, Asan-si, Chungcheongnam-do. There's a parking lot right in front of the restaurant.

Oneungi Shabu Baeksuk menu and prices

There's neungi duck baeksuk and neungi chicken baeksuk, both for 3-4 people, plus a samgyetang hot pot for one person haha. And here's the thing — every single dish has neungi mushroom in it!! Packed full of it too haha. Last time I had the special neungi samgyetang, but this time, with three of us, we ordered the baeksuk haha.

How big is the chicken, and how does the neungi broth taste?

The neungi chicken baeksuk at Oneungi Shabu Baeksuk had such a huge chicken, the visual was totally overwhelming. Loaded with neungi mushrooms too haha. Already felt like I was getting a health boost just looking at it haha.

We let it bubble away and dug in. The broth color is so deep and looks so good — the broth here is genuinely the real deal haha. A flavor that keeps pulling your spoon back!! My mother, who's a huge baeksuk fan too, tasted the broth and said this place would really do wonders for your health, and asked if we could come often in winter too. haha

Looking at it again makes me drool... hahaha. Doesn't it look so good? I'm getting hungry again just watching the video, that's me right now.

Must've been native chicken because the drumsticks were absurdly huge lol. The person at the table behind us had the duck baeksuk and joked, 'does this duck have four legs?' since there were four drumstick-looking pieces on the plate lol. Turned out two were the shoulder parts attached to the wings, and that part was the size of a regular drumstick, so we all had a laugh hearing that lol.

Side dishes and the mushroom shabu-shabu course

The basic side dishes come out looking like this haha. They paired well with the baeksuk so we could just keep eating it haha.

On top of the baeksuk, a bunch of mushrooms come out too, so you can make a mushroom shabu-shabu haha. So even if someone can't eat much chicken, I think they'd come back just for the mushrooms haha. There were lion's mane mushrooms, cordyceps, and other mushrooms that are all good for you.

The last course: sticky rice cooked in neungi broth

The final kick is this sticky rice haha. They said it's rice cooked in neungi mushroom broth haha. They told us we could also turn it into porridge after finishing the baeksuk, but I already knew this flavor, so I ate it alongside the baeksuk hahaha.

On the way out, they had tea and sikhye (sweet rice punch) ready, which was nice haha. Not some artificial drink but a thoughtfully made, healthy tea, so we got that health boost all the way to the end haha.

The private room for birthdays and hwangap parties

And the thing that really impressed me was that Oneungi Shabu Baeksuk has a separate room, which I thought would be great for parents' birthday parties, hwangap (60th birthday), or other celebrations haha. You get to nourish the elders' health and celebrate a birthday at the same time haha. Seeing a birthday table already set up like that made me think parents would be so happy haha. The room was also pretty big, so it seemed great for a large family gathering hahaha.

And across from it there's a large TV — I didn't get to ask, but if you can play videos on it there, it seems like it would make for an even more perfect celebration!
