When I can't decide where to go between Seomyeon Station and Jeonpo Station, my choice these days is pretty much set. It's Pickles, tucked inside Jeonpo Cafe Street.

It's also within a 5-minute walk from Exit 6 or Exit 2 of Seomyeon Station, so location isn't much of a hassle if you're hunting for Jeonpo restaurants.

The route is easy to follow too. Head into the alley next to Ijaemo Pizza inside Jeonpo Cafe Street, and you'll pass Starbucks Seomyeon Jeonpo Station branch and FM Coffee before the Pickles neon sign comes into view. Nearby are well-known Seomyeon and Jeonpo spots like Old Mansion, Bao House, Vintage38, Seomyeon Gourmet, Seomyeon Got It, and Free Will Pizza — the whole neighborhood feels like a foodie hotspot. If parking worries you, there's Jeonpo Station parking lot, Woongjin parking lot, and Hyundai Tower parking lot, though I walked over that day so I skipped the parking stress.

Hours run from 11am to 9pm, with last order at 8pm. It's hard to get in too late, so check this before heading over.

The exterior alone made an impression — a green awning stamped with the number 517, and below it a big PICKLES neon sign that stood out even in daylight. Next door is a bakery café called Upper Yeast, which added to the stylish vibe of the whole alley.

How waiting works at Pickles and what the room feels like

Pickles takes waitlist entries through a Catch Table tablet, with a notice posted beside it. From the 3rd party in line, you wait outside the restaurant, and once there's a wait, tables are limited to 90 minutes. It also notes that your whole party needs to be present before you can be seated.

Inside, bright wood-toned tables, ivory panel walls, and soft standing lamps create an interior that reads like a café by day and naturally shifts into date-night mood by evening.

There are seating areas divided almost like separate rooms, where guests can eat comfortably.

Seating covers group tables, bar seats, a terrace, couple seats, and single seats, so it works for everything from solo dining to group gatherings.

The Pickles menu: half-and-half pizzas and pasta

The vintage-style menu book opens with the line "Hunger is the best pickle." It's organized into Set / Pizza / Pasta / Side / Drinks, and pizzas can be ordered half-and-half in two flavors. The lineup includes jambon-beurre, taco, beef cheeseburger, potato, and bacon cheddar, while pastas include lasagna, puttanesca, and bacon cream. Sides feature romaine salad and chicken steak, and drinks range from refillable walk-in coffee, orange juice, and soda to San Pellegrino and draft beer.

Once seated, two pieces of cucumber pickle arrived as a side dish in a small bowl. Even the napkins and cutlery came neatly wrapped in paper stamped with the Pickles logo — a detail that felt thoughtful.

The self-bar had ice water in a Cosmos water jug with glass cups, a pepper grinder, and hot sauce, so I could help myself whenever I needed.

How did the beef cheeseburger and potato half-and-half pizza taste?

We ordered the beef cheeseburger pizza and potato pizza split half-and-half, along with a chicken steak (₩9,000) and a Sprite.

One half was the beef cheeseburger pizza, topped with beef, cheddar cheese, and crunchy romaine and chopped onion; the other was the potato pizza, with thick potato wedges and bacon drizzled generously in house-made garlic sauce. The combination worked far better together than I expected.

From the moment we lifted a slice, the cheese stretched in long strings all the way to the person next to me's plate — a sight that drew gasps from everyone at the table.

Ground beef sat mingled with cheese on the dough, piled high with romaine and chopped onion like a hamburger patty laid flat. Lifting a slice pulled the cheese into long threads, revealing the beef topping underneath — the juicy meat and salty melted cheese tangled together in a cross-section that looked seriously delicious.

The potato pizza in particular was so good I'd order it again without a second thought next time. Potato wedges were generously drizzled with bacon and a creamy sauce, and the combination worked way better than I expected. Looking at the photo again makes me want to eat it all over.

The crust edge was crisp while the inside stayed chewy — just watching the cheese stretch out as we cut it with a knife made my mouth water. It tastes even better with a sprinkle of salt.

Is the 9,000-won chicken steak worth adding?

The Pickles chicken steak is a 9,000-won side, and the plating that came with it left an impression. Despite its rustic look, one bite was so tender it made sense of the claim that it recreates a memory from Harlem, New York.

The skin was grilled crisp, but pulling off a piece with a fork revealed juicy, genuinely moist meat inside.

Eating it together with the roasted potatoes and tangy-sweet coleslaw on the side cut right through any heaviness. The harmony of chicken, potato, and coleslaw paired so well with the pizza too that it was hard to believe this was only ₩9,000 — the value for money was honestly crazy.

Is Pickles worth a visit in Jeonpo?

Pickles goes beyond being just a Jeonpo pizza restaurant — it delivers on space, atmosphere, and service all at once. True to a brand story built on experiences from New York, a classic yet relaxed mood runs through the whole space. By day it works as a brunch-style lunch spot, and by evening, as the lighting softens, it becomes a solid date-night option in Seomyeon and Jeonpo. It's a Seomyeon-Jeonpo pasta restaurant that would satisfy family, friends, or a partner alike. Not many places in Busan's Western food category manage to nail both space and flavor like this, so I think I'll be back again.
