Yeonsan-dong Korean restaurant: brass-bowl bossam set, Sinseon Myeonga
In short
Sinseon Myeonga is a kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) and bossam (boiled pork wraps) restaurant on the first floor of a shopping block on Jungang-daero1150beon-gil in Yeonsan-dong, Yeonje, Busan. A small bossam for two costs 23,000 won, bulgogi bibimbap 9,500 won and house-made anchovy kalguksu 7,000 won, all set out in brass bowls; three people shared the table and the two-person bossam still had plenty of pork. With free parking in the building lot and sikhye (sweet rice drink) and mini yakgwa (honey cookies) at the end, Sinseon Myeonga is worth returning to for a family meal.

I went to Sinseon Myeonga (신선면가) in Yeonsan-dong, a place that gives you a lot of food for a great price — perfect for a family meal. It's near my house so I'd passed by many times, and finally stopped in today. It always looks packed, and even though it's the 2-person bossam, they gave us a generous amount, plus the bibimbap and kalguksu were both really tasty. Let's get into the review haha!

Parking at Sinseon Myeonga: call from the barrier in Yeonsan-dong
Parking at Sinseon Myeonga is free in the building's shared lot. I called the restaurant from in front of the parking barrier and they opened it right away. It's a lot shared with several shops in the building, but there was plenty of space so it was fine.

A spacious kitchen and friendly staff. They get a lot of delivery orders too, so the kitchen was really busy once lunch peak hit.

There are about 10 tables, and I saw a lot of families dining.

Sinseon Myeonga menu and prices
Sinseon Myeonga has its menu and prices posted in big letters right on the storefront. There's kalguksu (knife-cut noodles), bibimbap, bossam, and pork cutlet, and they've got the set menus well organized. The most popular item seemed to be the set with kalguksu paired with a taste of bossam.

- Bossam small (for 2): ₩23,000
- Bulgogi bibimbap: ₩9,500
- House-made anchovy kalguksu: ₩7,000

The dishes come set out on the table almost like a course, neatly arranged in elegant brass bowls that make you feel taken care of. The colorful spread looks really appetizing. And... the portions are huge!!

The complimentary sundae (Korean blood sausage) that came as a taster was nutty and delicious too, served with salt on the side.

Bossam for two, 23,000 won: the most pork I've seen lately
The bossam small (for 2) at Sinseon Myeonga is ₩23,000. It comes on a wide brass tray, packed tightly with tender sliced pork, with the bossam sauce, ssamjang (dipping paste), cheongyang chili, garlic, and tofu neatly arranged in cute little bowls in the middle.
Even though it's the small, 2-person size, the amount of meat is really generous — it looked warm and tender.

The mild tofu that came with it was warm too, and besides the mu-malaengi (dried radish salad) on the tray, they also gave us geotjeori (fresh cabbage kimchi), which was delicious.
The ratio of lean meat to fat was just right, so it wasn't dry — moist and clean-tasting with no gaminess. Lettuce and perilla leaves are apparently expensive right now before Chuseok, but they gave us plenty. Wrapping lettuce with the radish salad and geotjeori made for a filling, healthy meal.
Honestly... I was really surprised by how much pork was in the bossam. It's the most meat I've gotten from any boiled-pork place recently.
Bulgogi bibimbap, 9,500 won: sweet-spicy enough for kids
The bulgogi bibimbap is ₩9,500. It arrived in a big brass bowl, full of colorful bulgogi bibimbap. Bean sprouts, carrots, fresh lettuce, and seaweed flakes were arranged in a neat circle of color, with a generous pile of bulgogi on top.

The smoky char of the bulgogi smells amazing.

A nutty fried egg sits right in the center. Gochujang (red chili paste) is on the table separately so you can add as much as you like. That subtle charcoal-grilled bulgogi flavor is so good!!

There are lots of vegetables in it too, so the crunchy texture of the veggies and the savory bulgogi go really well together, and the sauce isn't too spicy — just mildly sweet and spicy, so kids could enjoy it too. They said the rice is a mix of Icheon Imgeumnim rice and Suhyangmi rice. Even mixed in with the bulgogi sauce and vegetables, you can still taste the chewy, nutty presence of the rice grains. It also comes with a warm broth on the side, so if you're eating solo, the bulgogi bibimbap alone as a single order would be great.

House-made anchovy kalguksu, 7,000 won: a portion that comes with a ladle
The house-made anchovy kalguksu is ₩7,000. It comes filled with a milky, rich broth, topped neatly with green chives, seaweed flakes, and toasted sesame salt over the noodles. Overall, the portions at Sinseon Myeonga are really generous — great value for money. They even gave us a bowl and a ladle so we could share it.

Since it's house-made noodles, when you lift them up they're wonderfully springy.

True to house-made noodles, the strands are chewy, moist, and have a real bite to them — they soak up the broth so well that the noodles alone are well-seasoned!
The broth is so good — the deep, savory richness of the well-steeped anchovy stock is so refreshing. The geotjeori kimchi was delicious too, and adding some of the bossam's radish salad on top, since we'd ordered bossam together, made it even better.

The combination of bibimbap, boiled pork, and anchovy kalguksu was really nice. It's great having such a variety of dishes, and the portions are huge, so it's good for sharing too. Even the kids said the bibimbap was so good — since it's near my house, I think we'll be back often for weekend family meals.

Sikhye and mini yakgwa to take on the way out
Sinseon Myeonga has a thoughtful dessert waiting for you as you leave after your meal. They keep cold sikhye (sweet rice drink) and mini yakgwa (honey cookies) in an ice cooler. You just grab one on your way out, which is such a nice touch — the sikhye was a bit much for one person alone so we shared it. A small, feel-good way to wrap up the meal!
