As the weather cools down, don't you find yourself wanting a cold drink and good food in a place with real atmosphere? Today I'm sharing a visit to one of the long-standing, well-loved Korean pubs in Seomyeon, right in the middle of Busan where so many hot spots are packed together.

Plenty of people already know this place, but after actually trying the two-person drinking set myself, I got why it's stayed a favorite Seomyeon bar for so long haha :)

Where is Mokhwa Silbi and when is it open?

Mokhwa Silbi's exterior tucked into a Seomyeon alley

Mokhwa Silbi is on the 1st floor of 80-11 Jungang-daero 680beon-gagil, Busanjin-gu (Bujeon-dong), Busan. Hours are Sunday to Thursday 17:00–02:00, and Friday to Saturday 17:00–03:00.

It's tucked into an alley off the busy center of Seomyeon, but it's such a well-known Seomyeon bar that it's not hard to find. There's also a generous event where guests who arrive before 6:30pm get up to two free lemon highballs — worth heading over a bit early to grab that!

Inside Mokhwa Silbi: is it good for conversation?

Walk through the door at Mokhwa Silbi and instead of the usual loud, bustling pub vibe, you're greeted with a cozy, moody atmosphere. The lighting itself isn't too bright, just soft and warm, which made it perfect for actually talking with the person I came with.

The tables are spaced apart just enough too, which really shows the kind of sense a good Seomyeon bar should have for a comfortable night of drinking.

What comes in the two-person drinking set, and how much is the discount?

What I picked that day was the two-person drinking set, which lets you try two popular menu items at once! Mille-feuille nabe and cream cheese shrimp fondue, bundled at a ₩4,000 discount — such a solid combo that I didn't hesitate to order it :_

Complimentary sides and the first drink

Mukbap and pink sausage served as basic side dishes

The basic side dishes were mukbap (jellied acorn starch) and pink sausage — and it looked like you could add a bottle of soju as a basic option too?

Mille-feuille nabe, finished with rice noodles in the broth

Mokhwa Silbi's mille-feuille nabe comes with rice noodles included as standard, so it was filling enough to eat like a full meal.

Layers of fresh cabbage and perilla leaves stacked with plenty of good-quality beef meant the broth got richer the longer it simmered. Clear, spicy, yet deep — the broth flavor was perfect as a drinking snack.

Eating the ingredients out of the mille-feuille nabe

Once we'd eaten most of the ingredients, we called the staff over, and they brought out rice noodles to add straight into the broth — and these noodles were a real treat on their own. Soaking up all that richly simmered broth, they made for the perfect carb finish!

Cream cheese shrimp fondue with dinner rolls and tortilla pizza

The cream cheese shrimp fondue was amazing just to look at. Big, plump shrimp piled into a savory, rich cream cheese sauce,

and it was genuinely fun pulling out the shrimp one by one.

Morning bread and tortilla pizza came alongside it too, which made picking and choosing pretty fun. Whether piling cream cheese and plump shrimp onto the crispy tortilla pizza, or tucking sauce-dipped shrimp into the soft morning bread, it felt like eating something out of a fancy restaurant.
