Cheolgil Busanjip Beomgye Branch is an izakaya specializing in fish cake dishes, located on Pyeongchon-daero 217beon-gil near Beomgye Station in Anyang. It's open daily from 5 pm to 2 am, and there's no parking available.
The temperature has dropped enough in the evenings now that I'm wearing long sleeves. As soon as I felt that chilly breeze, I started craving hot fish cake broth, so I went looking for it and found this Beomgye Station izakaya famous for its side dishes — "Cheolgil Busanjip Beomgye Branch"!! With its already clean, polished vibe and a wide range of tasty dishes beyond just fish cakes, it's a popular spot for dates. The exterior is neat with a warm, wood-toned feel.

Seating at Cheolgil Busanjip: bar counter, tables for two and tables for four
Inside, there was a variety of seating, from bar tables to tables for four.

There were also seats for two, so it felt easy to visit as a pair. The warm lighting made for a really nice atmosphere.

Something about the tableware and the wooden ladle set on the table just felt right.

A broth pot on every table: assorted fish cakes for two, warmed as long as you like
I loved that Cheolgil Busanjip Beomgye Branch has its own fish cake pot at every table.

Rather than dropping the fish cakes in right away, they bring out a pot already filled with fish cake broth.

The assorted fish cakes for two arrived — the portion was generous.

I also loved that there was such a wide variety of types.

You're supposed to add only as much fish cake as you'll eat into the broth, but I dumped everything in at once, haha.

You scoop the fish cake broth with the wooden ladle provided and pour it into the cup that holds your chopsticks.

They also serve danmuji (pickled radish), and it had a gardenia flavor that was really tasty.

What's in the platter: fish cake balls, shrimp, cheese fish cake, tofu pouches and mul-tteok (rice stick)
I tried the fish cake balls, and they were wonderfully chewy.

There was also one with shrimp — plump shrimp meat tucked inside the fish cake made it delicious.

The cheese fish cake had a mild, savory cheese flavor that was really good.

No fish cake spread is complete without the curly kkobuli fish cake.

There was also a fried tofu pouch.

Cutting it in half, I found rice cake tucked inside, haha.
There was also konjac,
and of course, no Busan-style fish cake spread is complete without mul-tteok (rice cake in broth)!! Dipped generously into sweet soy sauce, everything in that mild, not-too-strong broth was delicious.

Yeontakki in the Seomyeon Set: beef tataki and salmon sashimi on one plate
The yeontakki from Cheolgil Busanjip Beomgye Branch looked this satisfyingly full.

Beef tataki and salmon sashimi came piled generously, along with cabbage salad, rakkyo (pickled shallots), and sauce — it really felt like a complete plate.

The beef tataki is seared only on the outside, so you get both the soft texture of raw meat and the mild texture of cooked meat, and the teriyaki sauce brushed on it added plenty of savory depth.

It's clearly no accident that this is offered as a set menu option.

The salmon sashimi was fresh and mild-flavored,
and dipped in sesame sauce, it truly melted in my mouth — no other way to put it.

If you're someone who can't choose between tataki and salmon sashimi, ordering the yeontakki at "Cheolgil Busanjip Beomgye Branch" is exactly the right move.
