For a refreshing Sunday evening plate of sashimi, my family and I headed out to Jeonpo-dong. Today's spot was Rigo Susan, a sashimi restaurant near Jeonpo Station with a great outdoor pocha vibe.
Rigo Susan at Jeonpo Station Exit 8: a fully open storefront with outdoor-stall seating
Rigo Susan is a sashimi restaurant conveniently located near Exit 8 of Jeonpo Station on Line 2, easy to reach by public transit. Here's what the storefront looks like.

The whole front of the restaurant is open, giving it an outdoor pocha atmosphere that felt really nice.
The restroom is inside the restaurant, so it's easy to find.
When we visited around 7pm on Sunday, both the indoor and outdoor tables were crowded with guests, and only a few tables in the middle were left, so we grabbed a seat quickly.
What's on the Rigo Susan menu — gizzard shad, live shrimp, mixed sashimi and extras
Looking at the menu, gizzard shad, live shrimp, and mixed sashimi platter are the main options, and you can combine them however you like.

On top of that, basic side dishes like sample raw fish soup, soy-marinated crab, tteokbokki, seasoned raw fish with vegetables, corn cheese, and braised fish can be chosen from the extra menu, and the seafood add-on changes daily depending on what's fresh — today it was mackerel hand roll sushi made with fresh mackerel.

There's a wide range of drinks too, so check that out for a good pairing.

The free side dishes: seasoned raw fish, cold udon, fried squid, rolls and okonomiyaki
A little while before our mixed sashimi platter arrived, the standard side dishes came out first, and every single one was delicious.

The seasoned raw fish with hot pepper sauce drizzled on top was really good too~

The cold udon I really enjoyed had nice, springy noodles.

Slurping it down, the portion was so generous that my partner and I joked it could easily be sold as a standalone dish haha.

Fried squid and fried sweet potato also came as standard sides, and they were wonderfully crispy.
The fried squid was so good that dipping it in the tteokbokki sauce made it even better haha.

Rolls and tteokbokki came out together too, and the California roll in particular was really tasty.

It tasted like it had just been rolled.

And the okonomiyaki and corn cheese — need I say more, they were the kind of dishes you just keep reaching for!

What's in the small mixed sashimi platter — red seabream, young amberjack and salmon
Soon after, Rigo Susan's small mixed sashimi platter arrived! Today's main event!!

The mixed sashimi was made up of nicely aged, high-quality fish. First out were amberjack and red seabream — instead of the usual flatfish, rockfish, or olive flounder, we got amberjack and red seabream...!!
On top of that, salmon came along too, making this combination amazing. And with such good value, it was even better.
The amberjack was great wrapped in seaweed for a savory bite~

The salmon was good dipped in tartar sauce, and just as tasty made into salmon sushi like this.

Bone-in spicy fish stew with Sichuan pepper served to taste
I love eating spicy fish stew alongside sashimi! So we ordered stew and rice next. At Rigo Susan, when ordering the stew you can ask to add or skip Sichuan pepper depending on your taste, which was great.

A little while later, the bone-in spicy fish stew arrived! Cooked in the kitchen and ladled into an earthenware pot, it looked so good.

Since I like adding Sichuan pepper, I got some served separately and added it in myself — having it on the side like this is great when everyone's sharing.
The stew was loaded with vegetables and other ingredients, so the broth was rich and deep.
This bone-in spicy fish stew made a bowl of rice disappear in no time! Really good.
